Dress dilemma!

I've just bought these new boots and I'm looking for a dress to wear for a date night! I love this red sweater dress but I'm not sure it will work with my inverted triangle body type or on a woman of my age! Any thoughts or advice would be very welcome

Others here are probably more "expert" when it comes to advice about dressing for a particular body type, but in general the advice is about balancing. So to my eye, the A-line of that red dress ought to balance your shoulders nicely. Sweater dresses ARE hard to wear, but the one you have chosen seems to have a nice ease around the midsection which is likely to make it less clingy.
I do very much like the green dress in your picture. You wear that color well and should wear it often! I like your boots, too - very classic!
Hope you'll show us how the red dress works out!

I ended up shopping in Macy's and bought the grey dress which I saw and loved!

Sophie I think your grey dress will look fantastic with the boots. The boots will bookend your beautiful dark hair, so this is a winning combination.
