This weekend was dd's annual dance recital. I was backstage with her class, and I noticed that Maxi Dresses were the chosen "uniform" for about 80% of the other mom's back there. My first thought was "how impractical", and it proved to be true. I saw several women stepping on the hems of their dresses while bent over doing or undoing costumes for little ones, and several others almost tumbled off their super high heeled sandals (which they had to wear so that the hems of their dresses didn't sweep the floor) running around backstage. I guess I missed the memo, because I dressed for practicality in my navy Converse, dark jeans, and a lightweight button up shirt with a cami layered under it. I popped on a fabric flower pin, since I never feel really dressed without an accessory and anything else would have gotten in the way. I still looked fine to go out to dinner after the last show, and my feet didn't hurt. Maybe I should send out my own fashion memo next year LOL
