Well, where I live, here on April 7th, I’m still wearing a puffer! I know many of you feel my pain.

I’ve had my spring wardrobe out and sorted since our March break. But, except for a few springy but still warm items, I’m still wearing what I wore all of winter.

I’m trying to be careful with my clothing budget this year. A year a half ago, I explored setting a budget based on average wears. I didn’t succeed but it was a great exercise in practising how much I really need. It often takes me several tries of a new habit to make it stick - I’m hoping this is the year.

I’m focused on buying for the life I lead and not too much. Of course, I still want to have a little fun with fashion, so to that end I bought a floral midi skirt that is a little dressy for my everyday. I first picked it out for a friend when we were shopping for her. I came back to it online several times. I liked that the base was blue. I liked the colours in the floral. I liked that it was cotton and had pockets. I thought the length might lend itself to casual wearings too.

It didn’t hurt that I got it on sale and then returned today to get a further 30% off.

It feels like a bit of a wildcard but I thought hard about how I could wear it. I’m hoping to get 10 wears this year.

What wildcards have you added to your spring wardrobe this year? And are you lucky enough to be wearing them yet?

Would you buy the same clothing item that a friend bought?

And would you return to store for a price adjustment?

While I sit here watching the Masters, blooms at my elbow, I hope that the weather outside will cooperate soon!
