Dr. Marten Bootie??

I am actually thinking about fall for a few seconds. I have a pair of black patent lace up booties but the heel is a bit high for my more sensitive feet so I didn't wear them as much last year as I did the year before. I was thinking about replacing them with these Dr. Martens. My hesitation is that they are slip ons.

Has anyone seen them? I am usually a size 8.5 but sometimes a 9 so was thinking to order the UK 7. Does this sound right?

Do you want the feel/edge of grommets? Is that why slip-on is making you hesitate? They do seem more polished than many Dr. Martens, but that could just be the patent talking. They're very sleek and shiny.

I think they look very nice and I hope they are easy to put on and take off.
They will be great for cold weather.
I hope someone who has seen them will chime in.
I don't know about the sizing, either.
The link you provided shows very few sizes left. You may need to hurry if you are buying them there.

I can't comment on the sizing at all - no experience with Doc Martens. But they are a really cool boot ! I can see being able to wear them in different ways - casual, or even with a knit dress and tights . Not sure how they'd be with regular dress pants though .

I don't need grommets and prefer the clean look since the patent is enough detail for me. I was thinking about the ease of on and off more than the detail. Lisa, I was thinking that skinny pants could be rolled to the height of the bootie and wider leg over top. I know it is not considered flattering, but I don't usually wear heels with wider pants. My legs are proportionately long so I don't care if they look a bit shorter.

I am leery of ordering boots online in a brand I haven't tried.

Could you try on a Dr. Martens shoe (even if it's a different style) somewhere locally to help settle your mind?

I've never worn them either, so I can't comment on sizing, either.

I've seen them but not tried them on. We are on the same wavelength, Cheryle. I'm thinking of getting Docs again this year too. The Dr. Martens store in Seattle has a GREAT ladies section and the styles look fresh - not as chunky.

You could be a UK size 6 or 7. Not sure. Some Doc styles run big.

Love these boots and would wear them in a heartbeat! I wear a 6.5 and take a UK 4 in Docs. I find their sizing very consistent and once I knew my size had no trepidation about ordering online.

SoftMoc carries Docs so you might want to try on a pair or two there to be sure of the size. There is also a Canadian website unionjackboots.com that is the Doc Martens Canadian online store. You may want to check if they have these boots there to avoid the exchange/duties. I ordered two of my Docs from there and was pleased with the price and service.

I wear my Chelsea style boots with skirts, dresses and pants and find them very versatile.

Well, don't ask me, because I never saw a chelsea boot I didn't adore! I am sure they would be fabulous assuming they were comfortable for you.

They are not unlike my Blundstones which I wear for casual walking -- easy on easy off and very useful boots that also last forever. These are a bit more polished with the patent and this makes them quite versatile.

Fabulous boots, but then I would say that. I have a vintage pair from when they were still Made in England in a similar style, and I love them! Docs made with the classic men's lasts do run large in my experience. Good idea to try them before buying.

I was also going to suggest SoftMoc to try out sizes, but it sounds like our feet are about the same (8.5-9) and my Doc's are a UK7. They are the wedges, which I think are slightly narrower, but I seem to remember I took the same size in the more normal Doc lasts... that's how I decided the UK7 would probably work for me in the wedges.

My docs are a UK size 8 and I am a U.S. Size 9 to 9.5 so I think you are right to try a UK 7. Always good to allow room for socks. I think docs run wide so that may be an issue for you with this style if your feet are narrow. The laces allow you to pull them in around your feet. But I like them too.
