Downtown Seattle stores? - YouLookFab Forum

I need your help! I've enjoyed YLF for about two years, but 2010 was crazy so I lapsed into occasional peeks rather than my previous modest participation.

This Friday I'll be in downtown Seattle for a week -- my dear husband has a conference. In fact, this is the first time I've ever been able to accompany him. While he's busy, I plan to enjoy the core of the great city I grew up in/near (art museum! coffee! vistas! seafood! and a hotel room in which to relax, knit, and read!). I am also excited to check out stores such as Nordstrom, ATL, and H&M that I don't have easy access to here in an Oklahoma college town but that are an easy walk from my hotel at 7th & Pike. So... I'm looking for store recommendations

My style is classic, skirt-wearing, smart casual MOTG nearing 50 and I'm a curvy pear. My budget is usually Target, JCPenneys, and thrifting, but I am willing to spend more than my usual for core items. In fact, I have a short list of needs that I am looking for:
* a couple of pretty, seamed, well-fitting bras (and I need a bra fitting)
* short black half-slip (18"?), preferably silk, for the skirts I wear every day
* micro fishnets
* denim pencil skirt but not 5-pocket styling

Could you give recommendations for stores not to miss in downtown Seattle, whether for my shopping list items, great stores / departments that won't bust my budget, or just 'must-see's? Thank you so much!

For bra fitting go to Nordstrom. If Amber is working that day she's great.

Yes, definitely Nordstrom for your bra fitting! (A tip: even if you find the perfect bra at Nordstrom, and it's out of your price range, write down the style number and brand and snap a picture of it on your cell phone. Then keep an eye out on online sites including Nordstrom/Nordstrom Rack, Figleaves, HerRoom, Bare Necessities, etc. - even Amazon.com - to see if the bra ever goes on sale in your size.)

You might also browse the stores in Pacific Place Mall and Westlake Center to see if there is anything you want to hit up. I know several YLF members really like shopping at Club Monaco in Pacific Place.

H&M and Ann Taylor Loft are also nearby.

Lots of good suggestions. I'd also recommend the downtown Seattle Nordstrom Rack, especially if you've got time to spare. It can be a fun hunt.

There is also a very tiny but wonderful consignment store called Driftwood one block North and East of The Rack.

Have fun! I hope the sun comes out while you are here so you can see the mountains that hide behind the clouds.

Thank you all so much! I will make a beeline to Nordstrom for a bra fitting, and take it from there. I'm madly taking notes on all of your suggestions, including Kari's bra finding tips! I will indeed have time -- Sunday through Thursday -- to sightsee, meet some of my brothers and old friends for coffee/lunch, relax, and shop

BarbaraL - also, just a reminder that if you can make it, the Seattle YLF swap is on this Saturday. I realize you have a very short trip, though, and may not have time or room to bring discarded clothes with you!

The Nordstrom's bra fitting was awesome. Simply wonderful. In the end, I chose to buy several bras and I am so very happy with them -- wow! Things are getting busy and I may not have much more shopping time -- but I am already content, so it's okay. Thank you all so much for your helpful tips and advice!
