Dorothy Perkins sizing

Hi, can any British YLFers familiar with both m&s and Dorothy Perkins sizing help me out, please? I just figured out I am a 14 at the former though measurements suggested 16, but we have no brick and mortar store for the latter. So I am trying to gauge whether I might need to size up ie go to 16 or stick with the same 14 as at M&S.

Hi Mani, I'm afraid I only own one Dorothy Perkins item and it's a white moto. I sized up one size, but only as I have square shoulders and needed the extra room there. I think they are probably TTS. I have only ever bought a tee shirt from M &S and bought my usual size 10.

Thanks, Diane! Wide shoulders here too. I often end up discarding woven tops because they pull over the shoulder blades while fitting fine on the bust. So helps to know that has been an issue!

I'd say it's safe to translate 14 M&S to 14 DP

Not British, but I do have some DP tops. I odered according to the charts. The fitted tops fit, but I probably would have been happier one size up for the shoulders. The tops that are meant to be oversized are great. They would have swallowed me if I had sized up.

Thanks, Ornella! So confusing when the size charts tell one story and the actual clothes do something else.

Carter, eh, good point there, thanks! The skirt has a fitted waistband but the top I was eyeing is the new looser fit with dropped or no shoulders!

I have quite a bit of DP stuff back when they had a reasonable shipping option for us Canucks that didn't attract the wrath of the Duties and Extra Fees Deities ...

I find they are pretty TTS. I am a US4 and a UK10; I sometimes do size up to a UK12 because I don't like body-con stuff. I may go down to a UK8 in a skirt, because they are slightly more "forgiving" in the midsection, I find.

Oh! Thanks, Lyn! I was going to get the 18 they claimed I am for skirt waist (M&S thinks I am 16 but I fit the 14 in all jeans and trousers... they had no skirts to try! Silly so-and-sos, it is SUMMER)... but now do I want 16 again?

I wish returns were easier here so I could order 3 sizes and return two. Starting to feel too hassle-y and I might try a different B&M brand. But I do like some of their prints...
