Don't make my mistake with a shaping tee! ETA update!

Recently I mentioned buying this tummy tuck tee https://www.ezibuy.com.au/Product/76286
I tried it on, it felt okay, so today I yanked the tags off and put it on.
* But what I had not done is try it on for any length of time, and with something on top.* Oh what a mistake!

The section that was supposed to shape my mid section sort of shrank upwards to only covered my rib section and not the just below the waist area that was where I wanted it.

The only silver lining is that I ordered 2 of these tops and so can return to other one.

But I am a little annoyed that I started my 12 items a year challenge with a dud.

Please learn from my foolishness!

Gah! I hate that!

Sometimes it's just impossible to know how an item is going to work until you wear it for a full day and put it through its paces. By that point, the tags are off, it's worn, and it's usually too late to return it. If I had a dollar for every item that I'd had something similar happen...

That stinks. Give it away quickly so that you forget about it. Are you sure there is no room for a Mulligan (do-over) in your plan?

Bummer! Are you positive you can't return it for not wearing properly (defective?). They'd probably want to replace it,but you could try one size up, or . . . ?

You're not alone. Like Janet said, 'if I could have a $1'. . . In fact, I now occasionally put something on, tags and all, to run a quick errand and seen how it goes for those 20 minutes. It has weeded out a few problems (like I forget I hate the feel of hoods on jackets against my back).

Aargh. I hate that. If something ends up being uncomfortable, I won't wear it, and it's a total waste.

I hope that top wasn't too expensive. Is there any way of clipping it down so the tummy tuck part stays on your tummy? I have no idea how you would accomplish that, but remember the body suit tops from the 80s? The kind that clip between your legs? If you could figure out a way to make your top do that, it might "save" it.

I have one of those tanks. I can only wear it as a tucked layer or else it slowly shimmies it's way on up to my high waist right under my boobs. Annoying for sure. But I would try and use it as an underlayer with snug sweaters maybe or low v necks where you can tuck it in and let the other layer lay smooth atop it. Anyway, that's about the only way I get mine to stay put.

Yep. Know that scenario! I've taken to upsizing, usually two sizes on shapewear for this reason, then I get a "skimming" rather than "squishing and rolling" effect. Be kind to yourself, we've all been there!

Claire - I have been pondering giving it away. I think it would only be of use to someone a good deal shorter than me (5'4) and with a short torso and ribcage

MNSara I am pretty sure I couldn't return - the website returns policy is clear you need the tags on. I have left an unfavourable review on the website and ticked the box to ask for a response from them.

Elisabeth - I do remember bodysuits. Wore my black one out I wore it so much. That could be a possiblity, although I'll try Mo's suggestion of tucking first.

Beth Ann - I have done that in the past (upsize) with success. Don't know why I didn't this time!! Vanity perhaps.

Mine does that too... and the Spanx shorts version that is like bike shorts with tummy control rolls down. The belly will not be contained! So annoying.

I can relate to this. I bought 2 of the same summer dress. I haven't worn them, can't return them. Grrr. I just have to chalk these up to mistakes and move on. Like Angie says - donate because there is someone out there who needs the item.

How about using a safety pin on either side to keep it down?

I've tried safety pins - they broke loose! The only shapewear I've worn successfully is the Spanx knee length one piece. It was comfortable and light feeling, but not really great shaping. I don't wear any shapewear now, it's SUCH a pain!

ACK! I have a shaping tank from Sonic Slimmers via QVC....worked well, didnt 'ride up' at all, smoothed very nicely, but its SO freaking hot, under my clothes,,eww! I would suggest going up a size and see if that works better for you.....

I have the same problem with some slips...you wear them to smooth out things right? yet they shimmy up and end up scrunched around my hips creating ugly ugly bulges....argh. Luckily, this is limited to certain stetchy types so I am learning not to buy those, slips need to be smooth and loose, not sexy
