Hello ladies!
I've been a rather sporadic poster, but I have been trying to keep up on all the activities. Speaking of activities, I've been exercising my credit card and doing my best to help our economy...at least that's my cover story
So true confessions - I splurged in August on a beautiful Max Mara coat. The moment I put it on, I knew it had to be mine, despite the price tag. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has succumbed to wild impulse! Of course there was a wee bit of a pre-season sale, and the limited supply that helped spur me on. Of course one purchase seems to set off a chain reaction...I picked up a lovely black and brown handbag (CK @ The Bay), toffee coloured shaker knit sweater (Joe Fresh), Aldo booties....
Coat looks lovely dressed up or down - would love to hear your styling suggestions!

thanks for the thumbs up Suz! It was a huge splurge for me. I've been telling myself that I need to buy less, but higher quality. It's so hard to know what to make the investment in. You want something that will last, but also speaks to your heart.

The coat is beautiful on you! And you look great in the toffee colored items, too. Excellent choices on all of them. I'm at a loss for styling suggestions. . . You look great the way you're wearing them here!
I imagine the coat will go with just about anything you care to wear under it or with it, solid or patterned. Okay, I can see it over a plaid skirt with tights and tall boots. Or jeans and booties. Or over a little black dress, for sure.

I think "investing" in a coat is about the best investment you can make in our climate. Coats are absolutely necessary, for one. Secondly, they barely date. A relatively classic style will work for at least a decade, maybe more. Third, a standout statement coat like this will probably last a lot longer. It's brilliant on you and I love it!

I hear you Suz - I used to own 2 winter coats; a ski jacket ( that does count as a coat doesn't it ;-)?) and a dressy coat. And now....the hall closet has exploded...and a still think I could use another deep freeze puffer. I hear it;s going to be another cold winter...best lay in supplies/coats!

A coat like this is one of my holes, and I don't know where to start to fill it. Selection here is quite limited, and I seem to have fit issues so am reluctant to try online. So I stick with Costco Which is silly given the amount of wear they get. Sigh.

So worth the splurge, the coat is stunning on you, especially with the pieces that you have found to wear with it. It would look fab with red, a dress or pants/jeans, or red scarf. I love your color blocked bag. Perfect.

Thanks Elizabeth! My sister swears by Costco - I know she picked up a winter coat there several months ago. Maybe that's the thing - is just be always on the look out, and be ready to buy when you get the chance.

Jackie - high five Aldo sister! They've been putting at some stylish footwear lately, and thank goodness at affordable prices. I do think Angie's Prada booties would be divine with this coat.....

Stunning. Jaw droppingly stunning!! Everyone needs an amazing statement coat (are you listening coat gods?...) as you say it can swing from the supermarket to black tie. So elegant and gorgeous it will never date and the quality will easily last a lifetime!! Honestly it looks like it was made for you..fit, color - gorgoues with you hair and glasses. Love the caramel like a warm hug and it loves you back!! Fantastic job with accessories - I would have thought repeating in animal print in the scarf would have been too much, but it's not, everything you picked is perfect. Enjoy it and wear it well!!

Merwoman, how very noble of you to spur the economy by purchasing those outstanding pieces. A coat and warm boots are items that many of us in the colder areas wear almost daily for months so it makes sense to put the investment money into these pieces. The coat is gorgeous on you. Great purchase.

Gryffin - I wondered too if repeating the pattern...and the purse would be overkill - but to my eye it isn't. I did purchase a gorgeous Max Mara scarf as well (all right now all my confession are on the table - it has the same tones as well as a beautiful blue swirl through it.
Lynn - yes quality! I also want longevity, and sometimes that's hard to recognize, but this hit me like a ton of bricks.
