I know this seems silly, but ever since finding YLF, I feel 'funny' about wearing white running shoes/athletic shoes with jeans to walk the dog. I have some Converse, but have noticed recently that they don't give me enough support for long walks. Meanwhile, I'm starting on some focused leash training for my still-rambunctious, adopted from the shelter dog.
This means I need shoes that have decent grip. He likes to lunge, and we're working on this. He's an almost 100-pound black labrador retriever who thinks he's Mr. Tough Guy after being in and out of shelters for the first two years of his life.
These aren't going to be meandering, slow walks through a city park. We're talking focused training and some serious exercise for both me and him (my doggie). I used to take my last dog (she passed away) on two hour walks almost daily, but back then I didn't care about looking nice.
I'm also interested in any ideas/formulas YLF'ers have come up with for dog-walking in terms of outfits too. I mean, would you just wear gym clothes? I have some old yoga pants and tops from my gym-going days, I could get new yoga pants and such. I feel kind of funny about this too, worrying that yoga pants would look too much like pajamas or something. I don't normally wear yoga pants out of the house unless I'm going straight to the gym and back.
So, what do you wear to walk the dog?
Thanks
PS - That's him in my profile picture, he who seems to think he needs to be Mr. Tough out on walks.
