We have officially reached the “I am over it” phase of summer here. It’s not getting below 75 degrees at night. Humidity is at 80%+. Even my hardcore running friends are skipping their runs or making them walks instead.

I’m not posting outfits lately because I am a sweaty mess. I’m mainly staying home to work (or, like yesterday, take a day off and read the latest Stephen King novel), and I’m wearing *snore* shorts and a tee. Because why wear something good when I’m sharing seating with two big shedding, drooling dogs?

Just venting, and daydreaming a bit of outfits for fall weather, with sleeves and jeans and jackets! Mid to late August is always a tough time. Next year we need to make it a point to be traveling somewhere more pleasant this time of year!

It's not bothered me yet except that I started wearing a mask again in shops. They feel especially hot now :/
Pet hair in hot sweaty weather is the worst! Pets: we Love you!! Us: go away you're hot and you're furry!!

Janet - I sympathise - in very hot weather I find it is impossible to be stylish - just staying presentable and cool is good enough. Humidity makes staying cool a real challenge, especially when trying to get to sleep at night.

Your new purchases for Fall are fabulous, no wonder you can't wait for the weather to cool down so you can wear them.

For this coming summer, I have resolved to get some shorts and wear them with cotton blouses so that I can mix things up between shorts, skirts and summer dresses. Whilst I don't look particularly good in shorts, they sure are comfy and practical for my climate.

Suntiger, yeah, masks make everything that much worse. I do not like sweating unless I am working out.

Bijou, I don’t look good in shorts. My legs are not my best feature, not by a long shot. I just muddle through. I’m not wearing my skirts as much this summer for some reason. They feel a little fussy or something. Glad I didn’t invest too heavily in more of them. I bought one at the start of the season and thankfully it is very lightweight and I’ve worn it a few times, and I just got a black one last week that is pleasantly lightweight and cool, but also substantial enough in appearance that I can wear it year round.

I’m not getting enough exercise lately — that puts me in a funk too!

Janet I hear you on the "over it".

We have the humidity and these tiny bugs that fly into your eyes and up your nose making it a challenge to get enough exercise walking, and also enjoy it. I've been riding my bike around my neighborhood, it's been a real game changer for me this summer.

I’m done too . We’ve had the hottest , smokiest summer on record and I’m sick of every part of it . I feel gross at best . And to top it all off , someone vandalized our bikes the other night and helped themselves to my bike seat . How are you liking the new Stephen King ? ( I read it - curious what you think ) .
Eta: I’m not getting enough exercise either and am bummed out by that . I’m working SO many hours right now - like all other businesses , we are extremely short staffed .

Janet, I feel your pain. When I was on the East Coast two years ago at the end of September, I thought I was going melt into a puddle from the heat and humidity. My husband and I escape to the San Juan Islands when Seattle gets too hot for us. It's always sunny and in the low to mid 70s during July and August.

We had a nicely balanced summer here, imo. Had some heat waves but with cooler breaks in between. But I’m so bored with my summer wardrobe right now. Thinking about writing a post on what worked for me and what didn’t these past few months.

My sympathies. When I travel to Atlanta, I either throw myself into the hotel pool a couple of times a day, or use the freezing cold over air-conditioned gym. At home, we broke down and installed AC to help filter the smoke. It also dries out the air.

During NAS I kept looking at your plaid coat. The colors and plaid really appeal to me. I managed to not order it, somehow!

Our summer has been just the same only different. I’ve been wearing nothing but shorts and sleeveless tops, too. We broke our previous record of 20 days over 100. And along with that we’ve had heavy smoke from the fires. It has really felt like the Apocalypse the past couple weeks. The smoke has been too thick to do anything outside. My husband and I check the air quality website obsessively. I keep thinking this is our new normal.

We finally got a break from the smoke, and saw some blue sky yesterday afternoon. We had an outdoor wine get together with a couple neighbors last night. One is a water expert and said we are likely to go on water rationing next year unless we have a big winter. That is a sobering thought.

Hot dry summer and forest fires almost all season - dreading September since it could get the worst air quality and too much AC running.
Wearing strictly flow-y skirts all summer - it gets repetitive at times.

Y’all come out to San Francisco! My weather app says mid-60s this week and low-70s next week. Nearly always too cool for shorts in the day, but always have a jacket or sweatshirt for night and evening. Maybe we can have a meet up next summer?

Hot weather—and smoke due to fires—is north and east.

ST, I just finished a four mile walk (Quiet Waters, paved path and mostly shade because the trails are too mucky). I’m sweating buckets and my face is beet red. I need it to be 10, preferably 20 degrees cooler. At least there is a breeze and it’s not as humid as yesterday. My thermostat has definitely changed post menopause.

I can only agree with the “over it” feelings. Just got done running- cooling off and showering takes longer than the run! Daily outfits of choice are tank tops and cotton shorts on the shortish side. Comfortable but seriously wrinkled after an hour.

This is the time of year when it seems the vegetation is just about to overwhelm everything. My coleus plants in pots are taking over, scraggly and demanding water twice a day. I’m always tempted to neglect them but they do attract hummingbirds.

We have had an EXTREMELY overheated and record breaking Summer in Seattle. No a/c in most Seattle homes, AND smoke. Brutal. But better now. I empathize, and hang in there.

I can only imagine how awful it must be with smoke making matters worse. I’m sorry to whinge about the heat, I know some places have it worse than we do!

I’m on my third change of clothes! Wore a light weight hoodie and cropped jeans for commute to early am swim (indoor pool). Changed to shorts, t-shirt, sneakers for walk with DH but sweat through everything! Now in cut-offs, sleeveless button down, and sandals. I’m in no hurry for fall, because it means winter is soon after.

I actually prefer summer, even our soupy DC weather, over the cold. Last evening it felt tropical. It's been extra humid. To be fair, I am no longer a runner so do not experience that drenching sweat in the humidity, and I am inside almost all day in the AC, since I GO NOWHERE EVER. I do totally sympathize/empathize with the runners in this area right now.

I love warm nights (but they have been buggy), and things like RipSkirts and the Old Navy cross-body sleeveless dress I posted the other day have really been ideal.

Not excited about fall because...no where to go. I have cancelled both trips we thought we might be able to take when I booked airfare months ago, and all gatherings we were going to attend. I'm having a little bit of a hard time this go-round of the pandemic.

Ugh, I hate humidity. One advantage of North Texas is that even though it gets very hot, it’s usually not too humid. Usually. Today, it’s really gross and sticky. I signed up for an gym this spring after I got vaccinated, but now I’m too nervous to keep going.

Sorry to all the Fabbers putting up with smoke, extreme heat, or swampy weather this summer! I hope things improve soon.

I feel for you! I bought Lilypup a cooling mat… I’m wondering if they make a people size one. It’s not that hot here, but my bedroom is all windows and the heat really builds up during the day.

It used to be that seattle was the "comfortable" place in the summer, where our mid-west relatives would fly out and visit us to escape the heat and humidity. Now this summer its been hot and sweaty and I'm hiding in the cold basement waiting for the rain!
