Great question!
My mother loved clothes, though growing up she dressed exclusively in hand-me-downs and later she pretty much deprived herself of fashion for years, thinking she was "too fat" and having few shopping options. Eventually she lost the excess weight and I started buying clothes for her. Her stye was crisp yet feminine. She liked button front shirts, cotton knit sweaters, and skirts in a variety of styles. She loved drapey 40s style trousers, too. She loved the idea of jackets but with a very square shoulder line she sometimes found them hard to fit. She loved costume jewellery like cocktail rings and necklaces. She wore purple extremely well in her later years. She always read the fashion pages in the paper and would keep up on the trends. Boot-eees were a favourite, though by the time those became fashionable she wasn't really able to wear them safely.
My dad wore a lab coat at work and basically allowed my mother to dress him but on weekends he liked corduroy pants and shirts (he ran cold and she ran hot) and leather jackets. He also had a weakness for nice Italian loafers. And he wore a cap or hat a lot of the time.
My brother is a very sporty/ preppy dresser. He wears gear or BR staples and looks really good in them.
Mr. Suz is a very New England professorial dresser. Plaid button downs, V neck sweaters in navy, grey, black, burgundy or red (in summer, he has a pale orange one and a pale blue one). He rarely wears denim any more although he used to. Mostly khakis and nicer trousers.
DD is androgynous in her clothing veering to boyish. Jeans, tees, hoodies, skate shoes or Blundstones.
