Does this fill a Wardrobe Hole?

I purchased an Angie recommended pair of Sam Edelman snow leopard smoking slippers 3 or so years ago. I still love them, but they have two issues.

First, they look best worn without visible socks. Given my climate, this is not for very much of the year. So yes, I admit it, I wear them with socks and take the fashion hit.

Two, I have loved them to the point that the calf hair on the back is rubbing off (I think this is from wearing them while driving). I live in the suburbs and driving is not optional.

I found the booties in the finds below. They would work great with socks, and they have a leather versus calf hair back. Would these fill a hole, or would they just be a duplicate?

It sounds like they are a little of both. They are duplicating the SE's that you love but in a more useful version. You could keep the smoking slippers and wear them for the occasions that you can go sockless. You would have the new ones for the winter.

Yes to filling a hole--which, by definition, doesn't make them a duplicate. I think those shoes could be a smart buy.

Agree. I don't remember the color of the original ones you have. That would be my only question - are they the same tones bc I know I have some animal prints that are warmer in color tones than others. Also depends if you are looking at this new pair as a replacement - which I probably would based on your issues listed above.

Seems like an extremely smart buy. You have a pair that you already love to wear but have two main problems which these beauties obviously solve. So, as long as they're super comfy (dog-walking ), I'd say go for it!

I think as long as they are comfortable that would be a good option-- then you could save the others for spring/summer/fall wear or leave them at the office to change into out of wet weather shoes until they wear out.

If the current pair are getting worn, I see it more as a replacement than anything which means they are filling a soon to exist hole. If it helps, I bought a pair of Isola booties last winter and found them to be very well made and comfortable.

Love those booties for you! They have a bit more edge than the flats, and work for your climate. Save the Edelman's for those perfect Spring/Fall days, or for outfits for which they are clearly the best choice.

I actually like the leather combo pair better. Go for it and keep the old pair as slippers.

They are definitely a better option for the reasons you've mentioned, so a great addition in my book. If you think you can still get great use wearing without socks in warmer weather, then keep the originals. If not, pass them on.

If they are comfortable, I think they would work great, and better.

Showing Find for my Halogen laceless oxfords which I have been wearing constantly. They work with nude knee-highs when I want, with socks and worn more as a trouser bootie, and with tights and skirt. I love them and they were sold out of the black or I'd have dupe'd. I did not expect the pointy shape to work for my feet but somehow the toebox works; so , they actually look more refined with my trousers because of that.

So the style of yours seems to have that same versatile vibe.

Also, I don't have calfhair footwear, but do have some light colors and i think I should be wearing "driving shoes" more often to spare the heels from scuffing.

I think they fill a hole. The loafers have just been a not-so-perfect place holder right? If the boots are comfortable I think they add some zing to your style which you like to do with your shoes.

Cute shoes, both the ones you have and the replacements! I have some calf hair leopard flats and I've always worn other shoes to drive when I wear those. Kind of a pain, I know, but I wanted to keep my $350 plus Stuart weitzmans pristine! Which they are, five years later. And I wear sheer knee highs in cool or cold weather. I don't know what the fashion police thinks, but it works for me.

Another advocate of sheer knee highs or even sheer hose for warmth when needed. They still look like you are bare footed. I vote get the booties. They seem ideal for your needs.
