Does this dress make me look like a crazy person?

I ordered the VC dress in Angie's store and love it. It's the best high-low dress I've tried. BUT if I'm going to keep it, I want to wear it a lot, a la Angie's blog post today. So here's my experiment with adding leggings, boots and toppers.

1. Straight-up dress, studded light grey belt, Anyi Lu booties
2. Dang, this is too dark. Well, I added black leggings, a scarf with dark purple tones, and black moto
3. "Malt" colored (Nordstrom's description) leather jacket and tall boots
4. Black riding boots and jean jacket
5. The one where I might look crazy: striped drop-shoulder top layered underneath.

What do you think? Can I transition a bright purple dress into fall and maybe even winter??

I *love* this dress on you, Laura!

I admit that #5 is my least favorite, but not because you look like a crazy person. For me, the stripes fight with the elegance of the dress.

Thanks April! Here's a link to a style blogger wearing the dress, and she looks incredible. The dress is a vibrant purple, which isn't showing up in my photos. And that's maybe why it looks even more crazy with the stripes in real life.

Agreed with April -- not crazy about the striped top with it, but otherwise really great on you.

I tried it, but the top just seemed too big for me somehow. I'm glad to see it looking so fab on you!

Crazy as a fox(y lady) hee hee. Your title made me laugh. The only one I don't care for is #2, I also think it's too dark. I like it best all alone in #1, but I'm in a streamlined frame of mind, so that may have me biased.

Love all the stylings, except for #5. I ordered the same dress when I saw it went on sale ... I think it's arriving today. You've given me a few styling ideas that I'll have to try, too.

I know, Anne, we need to start thinking fall/winter already - I want to enjoy this dress for a while.

And ha! Mo. My best friend had an elastic belt with the words "foxy lady" on it when we were growing up. Also, one that said, "think metric."

Not crazy - lovely. I really like the combinations I can see clearly, except the striped tee. I think long sleeves underneath could TOTALLY work, it just might need to be a more finely fabricated item. Maybe a fine-gauge knit sweater, silk, or even sheer?

Without reading any comments so far.....I'm in LOVE with #1, #3, #4 and #5!!!! You look fabulous! I'm just not loving it with the black leather jacket, I feel like it was too heavy looking. Have fun with this one!

The only crazy thing is thinking you look crazy! You look crazy-amazing! I am slightly envious of how many styles you can wear in dresses. I love each one of these for different reasons, as each picture creates a different vibe. That's a tribute to your creativity!

My word, that dress is lovely. You look gorgeous in it. I have to say I'm not a fan of pic 5, though. But I have a bit of a poisoned eye for "long-sleeved top under short-sleeved dress" (to me it reads as "toddler dressed herself this morning") so I might not be the most impartial judge there. But it's beautiful every other way you've styled it. If it were mine I'd be wearing it a lot in its simplest incarnation, as in pic 1.

I do think the dress has already earned a place in your wardrobe, with regards to outfit #2 you could try black textured hose.

You, crazy? Never! The dress is beautiful and fun and looks great on you.

My only nit is that i'm not crazy about this dress with the ankle-length tights (what are they called? I am having a senior moment and my mind went completely blank!). I think those work better with a shorter skirt, but admittedly that may just be my own personal preference.

Love with bare legs in #1 and love with the tall boots. I also like the stripes -- I just might wear that with tall boots instead.

Crazy good yezzz! This is a fantastic dress on you, the colour, the drape, the silhouette, wow!! I really saw this as a very Summery dress, but boy, you've just come up with four brilliant ways to keep wearing it when it gets cold. All four look amazing if you ask me. This dress is a winner!
