Does leather overload exist?

So Corey and I have decided to give ourselves a date night today (using a gift certificate at a local Italian restaurant, then going to see UP in the Air). Obviously it's time to trot out my new boots, and as we discovered yesterday the outfit possibilities are endless. But I'm wondering if I would be going overboard on the leather if I chose to wear my boots and my brown Caslon moto jacket. This is a question I thought I'd put out there early, as the temptation to wear them together in a variety of ensembles is going to be powerful.

Two outfits I'm considering tonight are:
1. Black skinnnies tucked into the boots (same as yesterday) worn with my sweet pea top and the jacket
2. My cobalt dress with the boots and the jacket thrown on top.

Sounds good to me. I don't see leather overload as there are other things in between the 2 pieces x

Leather pants, leather jacket, leather vest, and leather boots maybe a bit much (unless you're a dominatrix), but what you're describing sounds fine.

I think if your boots were much taller, like over the knee, it might be too much. But they're not!

Michelle, I think leather boots plus a jacket is definitely NOT leather overload at all. I like the idea of a floaty, feminine blouse underneath.

Have fun on your date night! Boy Toy and I did a date night in the middle of the week and it was so much fun. Gotta keep the magic alive!

Michelle, your outfit sounds great. It should especially work well because your jacket is brown and the boots are black.

Now, if you had said you were wearing leather chaps, it might be too much. But a jacket and boots are juuuuust fiiiiine.

I always have this fear too (with my Caslon jacket and tall leather boots) so I absolutely know what you're talking about. I have been hesitant to wear so much leather, but after reading this thread I feel more confident. Thanks for starting this thread, Michelle! Twins!

Good question, Michelle. I think it's especially effective when the leathers are two different colours. But black boots and a black leather jacket will work - remind me - your biker jacket is brown, right?

Your outfits sounds divine. I also like the sound of skinnies tucked into boots, your sweet pea top, pearls and red coat.

It just occurred to me that the LB denim jacket in the YLF store would look KILLER over your black dress with the new black boots AND pearls. I'm launching into orbit thinking of you in this outfit!

Yes, Anie, the jacket is brown. It's very mild here today, so I may be able to get away with just wearing that, but if the temperature drops I'll pop the red coat over the whole ensemble, which was uatomatically going to include pearls.

Angie, you remind me... I'm just not sure about that LB denim jacket. You're that convinced it could work? How about the Steve Madden jacket I talked about in another thread, would that work too or should I hold out for another white option?

Michelle, I know I was super doubtful about the LB jacket at first, but I love it now. Angie was right as usual. I wasn't used to wearing a cheeky/cropped jacket but now I've really grown to love the look. I've worn it twice this week and it's just great. I definitely recommend it.

The entire leather look is too trashy.. not chic at all!
But you can wear leather jacket, boots and bag and a jeans or a dress.
