Does anyone do Digital Scrapbooking?

So, I used to make beautiful, elaborate scrapbooks, back in the day when I had endless amounts of time! HA! Well not really, but yes, I made many before I had kids, some for my first DS, and now none in the past 4 years or so. The thing is I absolutely LOVED doing them, but I just know I don't have the time anymore. I'd really like to do a few for my youngest DS too. I am hoping to get into digital scrapbooking a bit, as I'm thinking it may be less time consuming and I can do it on my computer while DH is watching the games.

The thing is I have no idea where to start! How does it work? DO I have to use a program like Photoshop or do I just download "pages" off of sites? Does anyone know of some good sites with great layouts and embellishments?

I love digital scrapbooking! You can download pages off sites, but you have to have a program that will open the file.

My favorite computer program to use is Stampin' Up's My Digital Studio. It's not as expensive as Photoshop, it's easy to learn, and their products are fantastic. You can also save their files to open with Photoshop.

I also use Photoshop Elements. Photoshop has a high learning curve, but Photoshop Elements is a bit easier. You can find lots of kits and pages to use with Photoshop on the internet. Scrap Girls is a great website, as is Two Peas in a Bucket. You can buy kits from those websites, and Scrap Girls has a free download every day. Jessica Sprague also has great stuff on her website. There are tons of free tutorials for Photoshop.

Thanks Karie, I will check out that program.

I actually use Photoshop extensively at work so I am quite familiar with it. So are there places where you just buy digital pages and embellishments and then you use the files in photoshop (or whatever program you use)? I'm wondering where are the best places to get the digital pages and are they always paid for or can you get good stuff for free?

I dabbled for a bit, but paying for everything made me bored pretty quickly.

Haha, yes Lyn, I photoshop "evidence" into every picture! Lol, no we use it to compare things like fingerprints and footprints. These have to be scaled 1:1, put into B&W, and we make charts with lots of layers on them for court. Don't worry, we always have an original, and have to keep track of everything we do.

There are websites where you buy digital kits (digital papers, brushes, and embellishments) and open them in Photoshop. Once open, you can create your own pages in much the same way as you would with real paper products. You can also purchase pre-formed digital pages where all you do is plop in your pictures. Since you use Photoshop at work, you should have no problem at all. I'm just a beginner
