Does a chore jacket have longevity?

I ordered this blue chore jacket from Nordstrom. It fits well, feels good, and is a nice color. I am comparing it with a pale pink jean jacket, which also fits well. A jean jacket is definitely a classic. Is a chore jacket also a classic, or is it trendy? Obviously neither jacket has been styled in these pictures. I would like to hear your thoughts on this blue jacket, and on chore jackets in general. I tend to keep my things a long time, so I need things to have longevity. I also want to be more thoughtful in my purchases.

I can’t say whether a chore jacket is classic or trendy, but I’ve had my chore jacket for almost 14 years and I find I reach for it more often than my jean jacket. My chore jacket is longer than my jean jacket which I think helps make it more versatile (for me). It also leans a bit more neutral for my wardrobe (it’s olive vs. the medium blue wash of my jean jacket); I feel like it works in any season, more so than my jean jacket.

I love both jackets you posted. Is here one you think you would reach for more than the other??

I think these both look classic and understated, and are unlikely to date quickly.

Yes, chore jackets are forever. My dad had one and then I found and wore it as a teen a decade later

I think the blue one fits you really well and even unstyled, was flattering. If a casual third piece outfit maker fits your life style, it will have a long and happy life with you.

My chore jacket is new and hasn't had a lot of wears yet, however, like nemosmom said - it is longer, and I find the fabric softer/less stiff than my denim jacket that is 6+ years old. Though chore jackets are having their 'moment' I don't think the style will date.

That pale blue colour is delicious!

I think of chore jackets as usually being on the fringe that have been brought forward to have a moment. If it serves you well and you enjoy wearing it, don’t worry about on trend or not. I think they will be around for awhile and you got in on the cutting edge with yours.

Chore jackets are both classics and having a(n extended) moment: I think you can't go wrong!

Got mine at Debenhams, of all places, about 4 years ago, and wear it all the time, especially with jeans (because I do avoid double denim, in cut as well as tone).

The one you've found looks great on you.

Well I think the chore jacket looks “fine”, but the pink jacket looks really nice. I think my mother used to call this “damning with faint praise”. Or in other words, I like the pink one better!

These are nice. I like the pink one better with your hair & coloring, think the length is also better. Idk if it will be on trend and make you look all savvy about the latest & greatest for years to come, but I don't think that's your goal anyway.

That blue jacket looks lovely on you,l would keep it.l think that it would be Uber versatile and not the likely to date.Jean jackets are already a modern classic.

I have never heard the term chore jacket outside the forum so can't advise on their trendiness or not. It is definitely a term that makes me smile - but I did look it up and see it is a practical jacket in origins.

I like this very much on you and think it is a classic along with bombers and motos - jackets like this never really go out of style. I just buy the styles that I like most and don't worry if they are trending or not, but I have a retro element to my style so looking out of date is fine with me. If the right chore jacket found its way to me I would pounce, I love how this one is a pretty colour and works so well on you.
