Do you wear your Pinterest board?

Hi there! Inspired by Leopardluxe's challenge to Astrid to create an outfit from her Pinterest board, I took a look at my own board to see what overarching themes might be on there. To my great delight (but not total surprise), I can make about 90% of the outfits on there with a wardrobe of 43 different pieces (including outerwear, shoes and accessories) - all but 8 of which I own a version of already. So, yeah, I guess I have to admit there's a lparticular style I go for

Do you wear your Pinterest board? Does it reflect what you have/wear, or is it more aspirational/varied?

Mine are both but like you I seem to have themes. Weirdly I pin items & then find them while shopping so I guess mine is (sometimes) a subconscious shopping list

Hi five to you for knowing yourself!

I haven't done Pinterest yet. Can you have more than one board and decouple one of them from all RL social media contacts (like twitter)? Or is it more like facebook?

I use my Pinterest board for outfit inspiration all the time. Sometimes it's just an outfit or color combo that I like, sometimes it's an outfit that I can duplicate, although I often have to swap out items.

Mine is both, but I really don't use it as I should. I would like to fearlessly copycat, but I seem to have this mental hang up that the result will be disappointing because either I'm not tall enough, skinny enough, blonde enough or my clothes will be just enough off that it will look wonky. I really need to just spend a couple hours finding a few that work.

Yes. I pin photos to my "inspiration" board with an eye to items I already own or am likely to acquire. I am constantly copying Pinterest looks. LIke today, for instance.

And yes, you can have more than one board and make any given board totally private so that you are the only one who can see it.

I have one board totally dedicated to shoes.
My outfit inspiration board mostly is filled with stuff either I think I can pull off or want to at least try to.

That's an interesting question! I would say No. Pinterest is more a way for me to appreciate styles that aren't mine. That said, I do keep a *my style* board of things I actually own, places I actually go, etc., as well as an *aspirational style* board which is pretty much dead, lol. And I do have one board where I post possible buys from time to time.

torontogirl, My boards definitely reflect stuff I wear and own (or similar to them anyway) and help me see the overarching themes in my wardrobe choices. Viewing the whole board makes it very readily apparent that I gravitate to jeans and moto jackets in some variation or another usually defined by shoe, accessory and hat differences. I also lean more towards boho, rocker and grunge (RATE) looks than polished (and apparently I don't much care for classic/conservative looks at all judging by their utter absence on my boards). I also occasionally go modern and structured.

rabbit, you can create boards that you define as private boards so only you can see them (or you can choose to share with select people). I have a few of these that I often use for "outfit inspiration" when my addled brain can't figure out what to put on in the morning. While they're still my style, they have example photos of the ways others have combined similar items to ones I own in ways I might not have thought of but like the look of. Helps me not fall into a style rut too often!

I have a bunch - one that is aspirational, one that's overarching themes, seasonal by year (spring this year might be different than last, fire example), and a catalogue of what I've worn for personal reference. I often try to use elements of what I pin, but from a colour story perspective or "these pieces would layer nicely" that I want to interpret (I've historically been very bad at layering).

Thanks for responding everyone! Interesting to read how everyone uses it - taking inspiration from the group, I think I should differentiate an "admire from afar" and a "right for me" board - think that would help me stay on track while enjoying all the great, different styles out there!

I haven't joined Pinterest, because I fear acquiring another internet addiction. But how lovely that your aspirational style matches what's in your closet!

Just scanned the replies, will go back to read details later. I have a "outfits I can replicate now" board as well as a shopping list board. I recently added a "fulfilled" board where I pin pieces I just bought - kind of like an inventory or reminder of what I have. Them I also have the inspiration board which I cannot replicate but wish to on many outfits.
