Do you still have any 80's gear?

The fashion era challenge has been so fun to watch and has put me back in touch with my youth (ah, youth). Turns out I still have some bits and bobs from back in the day. What about you? Anything you've hung onto from that crazy time? Bonus for those who post a pic of themselves in the period wear! I'm below in the blue and pink, with white wrestling booties and matching Vuarnet sunnies, TWO Swatches and ankle zip pants. Still have the Swatches, though the pink one has long since lost it's scent (whose idea was that anyway?).

I have lots of tees - Grateful Dead (when I met Jerry Garcia!), Sandman tees from the Neil Gaiman graphic novel series - I collected those from the beginning, and sentimental concert tees. I also have my high school field hockey uniform! I saved lots of earrings from days when my friend Sarah and I would scour vintage and thrift stores. We were really into 20s style jewelry, like brooches and rhinestone chokers, because we were big fans of Brideshead Revisited. I'm wishing I held on to more of my clothes now, of course, but nothing was of real designer value.

A black leather belt and a small black evening bag. That's it! I do remember my first work suit - a red, white, and blue plaid skirt and navy jacket bought during a trip to New York. I wore the skirt to threads, and the jacket into the mid '90's when the lining became totally frayed and the fabric shiny from wear!

DH just jettisoned his late '80's tweed jacket. He had worn it as recently as 2010 during a month long trip to Ireland and UK. We didn't realize how ridiculous the shoulder pads were until we did a big clean out of his closet and try on of clothes this fall.

Come to think of it, none of the clothes I currently own have shoulder pads. Not even the winter coats!

i have 2 denim jackets, a unisex levi's jacket my mom got me my sophomore year in college, and an oversized denim jacket from around 86-87. also a great silk blazer with unbelievable shoulder pads. and just last year i had a red leather jacket from the late 80s reworked, should pads removed and body tapered slightly. and of course. my coach bag, because was one of the most expensive things i bought when i first starting working.

Ok, the question was what I still have from the 80's. The answer..... My High School and University Graduation Diplomas. Ha ha! That's it!

Not fashion I know, but apparently I tossed everything from that time of my life, oh, well). Oh, I just remembered that I still have a pair of Speedo Goggles and an awesome swim cap that I wore on my swim team in HS. Maybe that counts? ). I'm not going to take a pic of myself wearing them sorry!

Nope! But my hubby does! He has the shirt he wore on our first date in 1988 (we were teenagers!). Lemon and baggy. And he still has the bike he rode to see me. He is a romantic in funny ways.

All I have left are a few pictures. All my 80s stuff is newly acquired and not similar to anything I wore then.

Here's some bling I saved. A YSL super heroine looking necklace. Real but obtained at Marshall's in Springfield, Mass.

I'm preparing to move after 18 years and, in 1,000sq ft, sentimentalism is problematic! I did just uncover a bin of early 1990's era clothes, which was fascinating. The tops were all so short! Cropped tops and high waisted bottoms were the norm.

Your picture is awesome --- same beautiful hair and smile!

I have only music, and even that is not in the original cassette & CD format. I only have digitally stored music these days.

Wow! Nothing here, I was younger in the 80s but I certainly remember all the "cool kids" with those swatches like that! Fun photos!!!

Ha! I have a button collection too, tucked away in the basement with a bunch of other mementos (I love your Frank Zappa one). I kept a handful of old band tees from the era (XTC, REM, the Church, Siouxsie, etc), and of course I have hung onto the bumper stickers, tees and sweatshirts from the radio stations where I worked. Somewhere I have stashed the dress I wore to one of the Clinton inaugural balls (headline band was the B-52's! and a huge men's silk paisley shirt in shades of fuschia and blue, that had a Bergdorf Goodman label in it -- I think I bought it in a vintage store in Adams Morgan and used to wear it with black leggings and cobalt blue pointy-toed flats. No pics, sorry, but here's one for posterity in my big-hair era. LOL Yeah, it's funny, I didn't have to work hard for my hair to do that. My hair was made for the big hair era!

I didn't really save anything from the 80s except some baby memorabilia from my son, who was born in 1986. But I was also a member of Team Naturally Big Hair!

No, I'm not a saver. I moved a lot in the 90's so there was no room for sentimental items. I didn't have much money to spend on clothing back then, so it was all pretty disposable.

Omg. With the Fashion Era Challenge, I can't believe Swatch and 'Nets haven't come up sooner.

In addition to my prom dress, I also have a couple of Laura Ashley dresses

I do. I have a wonderful sweater that has been able to hang around throughout all of my wardrobe purges. Would I wear it? Absolutely not! I think I need to let it go.

I still have a scarf, which I haven't worn, and a necklace which I wear semi-regularly :)
