I just discovered nail polish and is totally new to the field. And super happy about the spark and fun its adding!

You fabbers probably know, but I realized that this is a great way of refreshing and updating an outfit I so wanted a yellow bag this spring, but ended up with a necklace - very happy with that. But I think yellow nail polish would have satisfied my desire for yellow.

Do you match the nail polish on your fingers and toes? Are there any rules?

I don't think there are any hard and fast rules really. I don't think it matters if you have different colours for fingers and toes. Some people have a really bright shade on thier toes but maybe just a french polish on thier fingernails if they have certain work related ettiquette.
I say go for what takes your fancy.

I dont match... but I have a gold polish I find hard to wear. gold topcoat for a color... brilliant!

Not an expert, but I don;t think they have to match. I wear toenail polish year round, but I almost never wear colored fingernail polish.

No, never. Although I hardly ever wear it on my fingers, so maybe that doesn't count at all. But I didn't even have them match for my wedding. (I had a lighter, lavenderish pink on fingers, and hot pink on my toes.)

I like brighter or more saturated colors on my toes. My mom had this theory that since your toes are so far away from your eyes, the polish should be bright so you can see it. =P Guess I've internalized that. Also, my toenails, with the exception of the big one, are teeny-tiny (seriously, manicurist once told me I had the smallest toenails she'd ever seen) and I like to keep them super short, so you really can't see neutral or light colors.

ETA: I have a similar chunky gold glitter topcoat (mine is from Sephora) and my favorite way to wear it is over midnight blue. I call it the "starry night pedicure."

I rarely match them toes and fingers. I like bright colors on my toes and more subdued on my fingers since they get noticed at work more. I like to color coordinate my outfits to my fingernails when they are painted - it's just fun for me although I'm not sure anyone else notices.

My toes are a warmer color than my fingers, so slightly different colors flatter. Also, some of the really bright colors I use on my toenails (almost always covered by shoes!) I'm not so sure I would use on my fingernails. Besides, the chips show up more on bright and very dark colors.
