I am a boot gal. I adore them year round. Lighter colors with bootcut jeans in the summer so no one realizes I am wearing an actual boot and dark colors tucked into skinnies in colder months to freshen up my outfits. My feet are always sweaty so I really prefer to sport a sock, which means sandals are my least favorite type of footwear.
Knee-high boots used to make conservative skirt-suits feel liveable to me, and I loved the height of high-heeled booties with pantsuits. Now, I have the chance to explore suitless ways of wearing boots. Even under bootcut jeans, my Fluevog Notting Hill boots give me back confidence that's always been mine but usually dormant.
Wow, lots of boot love going on!! So cool and so glad to hear it!! But you all temper your choices with the good and practical sense of what works best for your likes with the weather and lifestyle.
Boots and booties! I would wear them all year round if my climate would allow. I feel much more comfortable when I can wear good socks and boots allow this without any frump.
sandals - definitely sandals - I cry when it's time to put them away - and then again when it's time to put on socks. As much as I try to extend the sandal season , you look a little funny here in Michigan when you're still trying to wear sandals in late October!! - so they are now tucked into their cozy winter home (a rolling bin under the bed) waiting for the first blush of spring (and a pedicure) for their triumphant return!!
I used to love sandals, but then I developed Reynauds and cold feet. Now booties are my fave and keep my tootsies warm. Legs are too fat and short for tall boots which really highlight my bowed legs anyway. Fit is a major issue in regular shoes unless they are f'ugly ones.
Midcalf boots. I live in one of the snowiest places in the US. From October to May, I live in boots. I could use at least 2 more pairs, but I'm holding out for the late winter boot sales.
When it's warm I love flimsy ballet flats, sandals, and loafers. As soon as it gets cold I love boots. I dislike socks and will only wear them if they're huge fluffy goofy ones to keep my feet warm - so I need to hide them all winter!
Boots! Besides the comfortable fit, my feet are always cold, so I wear boots most of the year. I only wear shoes in the hot summer months. I rarely wear sandals because I work in an office that's always cold--even in the summer.
