Do You Like Shoes, Sandals or Boots?

I had an epiphany the other day. I really don't like shoes. I don't wear sandals either. In my work I would be petrified of dropping something sharp on my exposed toes plus my feet are always cold. But I love boots. All boots: booties, shooties, cut out, ankle, midcalf, knee, OTK. I have yet to meet a tyoe that I don't like. I even wear the Jeffery Campbell Everly and Alexia booties are my version of sandals. Does everyone else love their footware equally or does anyone else have a true footware "solemate?"

Definitely boots. I have narrow, hard-to-fit feet and boots/booties are so much easier to buy and wear.

I like all types of footwear, but if I had to pick one and one only that works best with my personal style, my climate and my lifestyle, I'd choose The Short Boot. They are just plain old versatile in my life, and aesthetically I think they're my favourite, too.

I do have a few specific dislikes when it comes to footwear -- for example, I don't like over-the-knee boots, loafers or boat shoes. I have yet to see a pair of any of those that I like. But tall boots in general are good, as are most other kinds of shoes.

Boots. My feet are so hard to fit, and boots are just so much easier. Regular shoes are my least favorite of the three simply because of fit issues.

I have been such a boot person my whole life. But just in the past month or so I've started craving dressy flats. And, I just spent a year living in Santa Cruz, with its hippie beach vibe, and finally saw the appeal of sandals (just chunky, practical ones - Mephisto and Doc Martens). So, while boots are still my first love, I'm glad I'm diversifying a bit.

Yes! hee hee.
I have, and like, all. My opposing climates (FL coast and Sierra Nevada snow) won't let me choose anyway, and I have to wear shoes for my foodservice jobs, so there ya go - I have to have all 3.

Wow - surprise to me!! I didn't think there would be as many boot believers!! That is soooooooooooo cool. Aziraphale, when you say short boots do you mean booties/shooties or something over the ankle. I am curious since I wear shooties with everything, I could probably even manage formal wear. So I am curious to know which you prefer. Aquamarine and Stacey, you are another surprise. I did not realize it would be easier to find boots rather than shoes because you have more surface area that has to fit. But glad you are finding boots you love!!

Una, you do have the perfect situation!! Imagine having to be a boot girl in Hawaii!! Although Grayscale, do you think it's the climate, selection, environment or just changing tastes that are causing the craving for flatsand sandals? That whole nature vs nurture thing.

I prefer sandals. I love the freedom of them, and, well, I just plain like my feet.

However, given my freezing cold climate, boots all the way!

Boots boots and more boots! And boots. Although the occasional sandal slips in depending on the weather or location (e.g., beach, summer, hot).

Boots! No contest. It is sadly too hot and humid here in the summer to wear boots though.

Thistle - enjoy wiggling those toes and letting them take the air. Diana, how dreadful that it is too hot for boots. I went wild for the JC booties because they are cut out of slashed and ventilated. I wore mine all summer despite some pretty amused looks from the sandal crowd! cciele - I agree boots on the beach might be a little much but I might have to try it!

Cciele are the everly's the most comfortable ever? Have you tried the Alexys? I am really loving JC booties.

gryffin, booties just stay on better because they enclose my whole foot. If too loose, I just wear a thicker sock. Etc. I have narrow heels, long toes, the start of a bunion on one foot...the list goes on and on. Really hard-to-fit feet...dressy pumps are a nightmare. I feel so much more stable and warm in boots, and given my cold climate, they just make more sense.

If temperatures allowed I would wear boots and booties year round, but alas I live at the beach.....

Aquamarine that's very interesting. I would nott have thought of that and good to know. Glad you are able to find something comfortable. My MIL has a very wide foot and is difficult to fit. I never thought to mention trying boots and booties. Thanks very much for the tip. I will pass it on.

@Gryffin: Yes the Everlys are really comfortable! I tried them on in animal print, but those seemed tighter than my black ones. Maybe they would stretch out... I want to duplicate those babies. I haven't tried the Alexys. I do have a pair of Coltranes and a pair of pointy-toed holographic JCs whose name I forget. Love 'em all.

I like and need them all! I don't like heavy winter boots, though, they are not only ugly, but they must be worn when the weather is really unforgiving. I love sandals, booties and Chucks.

Love for all three but generally I find it easier to find sandals that fit well than shoes or boots/booties. Just ordered some Cynthia Rowley very short Chelsea style bootie/shoeties(?)in moss (looks sort of olive brownish in the monitor) from Belk .Crossing my fingers that they will fit well !

Maybe it's because the grass is always greener on the other side...but I love the look of boots. Unfortunately even in winter with our wrap and peel weather full height boots are way to hot for my usually overheated office. I have recently discovered booties. They seem to be the perfect answer. Not too hot...just right.

I gotta say though I love me some sandals. All kinds...flats, wedges, platforms, even those dreaded flip flops! Looks great with a fresh pedicure!
