Do you like dressing in holiday themes?

Day Vies mentioned in my other thread that she tries to avoid orange and black together. So I was wondering if anyone else is as cheesy as I am and likes to get in the holiday mood by dressing in theme colors? I mean, I'm not dressing in tacky Christmas sweaters or anything, but the matchy matchy side of me likes giving a subtle nod to the holiday, it's kind of fun! I'm thinking this coming year I may even try Thanksgiving (orange and brown), Christmas (red and green) and St. Patrick's (green) too! What do you guys think--do you like to get in the holiday spirit or do you think it's silly?

If everyone looked as sweet and classy as you do while dressing in seasonal outfits, I would vote a big yay! This is fun and creative without going overboard at all. But theme sweaters? Not so much, for me anyway.

I like to give a nod to the holidays by wearing red on Valentine's Day and Christmas, green on St. Patrick's Day, etc. I don't, however, wear the traditional color combos together (red with green, orange with black, etc.) nor do I wear anything that has a holiday design on it. That looks too much like what an elementary school teacher would do. It's not a look I want to embrace.

It's fun! I do not have the occasion to do it, other than the ode to red (and black - not green) at my job's Holiday party, but I would totally go for it if I had a different job.

I like to be festive and dress festive (just in a subtle, non-traditional way). I'm using a color combo of chartruese green, creamy ivory, gold, and touches of deep bronze for my Thanksgiving/Christmas decor this year - and now I'm thinking of some outfits incorporating these colors too - so I think you've inspired me.

Answering your question is not so much of like it or not but somehow in the 'special days' I always get the urge to dress in different colors than the ones of the days.I guess my subconscious is a rebel

I do enjoy this and have been doing it forever it seems. I will say, working in a tourist town, when it's quite busy during those holidays, and dressing up while at work is most of the fun. Not sure I'd do it so much if I didn't work in a bar.

I don't like dressing in holiday themes but I would do it if my outfits looked as classy as yours. Your outfits could be worn on non-holidays as well and no one would bat an eye. That's why they work.

Admittedly I don't do much. I wear some Santa barettes at x-mas, and only wear green on St. Paddy's so I don't get pinched.

Well, I'm not sure if a smallish snowman pin on the label of a jacket really counts as seasonal dressing, so I think I'd have to put myself in the "nope" category.

But I get a kick out of looking at those people who do give a nod to the occasion by wearing something that fits the holiday. They brighten my day.

I decided that I'd dress in a Halloween theme at the dog show this past Sunday. You can't really appreciate my tiny witch hat but that's what's on my head. Also I'm wearing a tiny skull pendent and blood red earrings.

And of course, my spirit supporters. They didn't wear their wings in the ring.

For a brief second I was terrified you meant those hideous sweaters with stuff on them.

They are an ironic nod to the season but still look very fashionable on their own.

Oh my gosh Natalie - you look so great in all of these outfits! In fact, you are changing my mind about dressing in holiday themes! I generally avoid it like the plague! I *do* "dress" my nails for each holiday however. For example, this week I am sporting orange nail polish with a black crackle finish over the top - and I'm loving it!

I don't do it usually, but you look sweet! I am however, dressing up for Halloween this year at the request of my 5 year old. In fact we all are...the 5 yr old is Mario, my 5 month old is Toad, I am Princess Peach and DH is Yoshi....we'll be quite the bunch!

Well, I DO like my orange polished cotton blazer, so wearing it late this month with black has been an excuse to extend its wearing season. But I thought orange and black was to show support for the Giants! After tomorrow's parade, I will retire it until spring.

I usually will add some red around the holidays, but that is because ruby red is a favorite color of mine. I really love your Valentine's Day outfit. I think sporting a holiday look is fun, even if it is a loud sweater. All the better, of course, if it is a stylish nod like you're sporting. But I think people who purposely don't dress for the holidays are just looking for excuses not to get in the spirit.

I wear a kelly green shirt on St. Patrick's day, because I'm vaguely Irish (I think all white Canadians have a bit of Irish in them) but that's about it. I actively avoid "seasonal" colours, but maybe that's because I'm the exact opposite of matchy-matchy -- whatever you'd call that! But I don't mind it on others. You look cute in your orange top. I'm just itching to paint a jack-o-lantern face on your baby bump.

Yes, I do like to dress with at least a nod to the holiday. Here are some from the last year or so.

1. Last Valentine's Day -- pink trench
2. 4th of July this year -- blue and white bleached jeans with red tee
3. Last Halloween -- orange blouse, black skirt (I added my black-and-white Kate Spade blazer for work)
4. Last Thanksgiving -- "harvest" colors plus the UWP sweater was kind of a nod to Native Americans at the first Thanksgiving
5. Last Christmas -- green pants, red boots
6. This St. Pat's Day
7. This year, last work day before the 4th of July weekend
8. Christmas party a couple of years ago -- green sweater, red cardi

I enjoy thinking up outfits that incorporate holiday colors without shouting!

A little bit. In October, for example, I've been wearing my quilted orange vest as much as possible. After Thanksgiving I wear red as much as possible. I also have some handmade jewelry, such as a rustic silver Jack O Lantern, a silver evergreen, etc. I definitely try not to look like an elementary school teacher. No offense to teachers out there. No turtlenecks with turkeys!

You look great in your pics and so do you Andrea and Mary K. I love the holidays and I do dress in holiday colors/themes. I just think its fun. Yesterday I wore an orange sweater with white sequin ghost on it and orange tennies to work. I got lots of compliments!
