do you keep pics of purged items?

I have been deleting pics that contain items I no longer own. Wondering if I'm being hasty or smart in streamlining my online outfit catalog. What do you do?

yay - keep all pics, might find inspiration for replacement items
nay - delete what's left the closet, no use hanging on to the past

When I purge clothes, I purge the photos too. Curious what others do.

I've just started taking photos so haven't come to this yet but I imagine leaving them there would be like having them in your wardrobe when you don't wear them so I'd say purge. I do make a note of why something isn't working before I purge it - to help me not make the same mistake, so maybe you could have a separate folder with the photos & any notes about why they were purged.

For the most part, I don't. But I wonder if that's a mistake. Hmmm.

Basically, I was going to say what Caro said. If I found I was repeating the same mistakes, I would keep a What Not to Buy folder. For me, this might be too many clothes for a non-dominant season purchased on those rare weird weather days or clothing for my fantasy life. Or overly fussy clothes. Or. Or.

But if a purchase was somehow too embarrassing for words (or pictures in this case), DELETE. That means it didn't exist and you are saved even if it wasn't. JMHO.

I move them to a purged item folder. I want to keep follow my wardrobe history to see the changes.

Unless it is a picture for a reason other than the clothes (say a birthday or what not) I purge the pics too.

It depends if the picture now is too hideous to believe or less hideous and a good reminder of not to go there again.

I guess I am just thinking along the lines of items I've purged after I'm done with them, not that they were 'bad' or an embarrassment in any way.
Like these where I have purged an item in the ensemble but have the rest still:

I have been thinking about this too. I keep my photos to catalogue my outfits. So if the item is no longer in my closet I don't really need to keep the picture. However, if something has departed my wardrobe due to wear for example and I still love it, I would keep the picture to remind me I need a replacement.

well, it depends on the photo. if it's just of the item, then yes i would purge. if it's an outfit photo, i would keep as a trail of my style evolution.

I purge the photos too. They can't be useful if I no longer have the clothes. An exception might be a photo of something I want to copy as closely as possible with a replacement.

I keep the photos for reference to see how it was exactly, especially if I want to replace it for some reason, and also just nostalgia. Photos don't take that much space. On my app i delete all outfits with the item, unless I can replace if and then I just switch the photo of the old with the photo of the new. I delete the item in the app if I don't want to replace it and don't want those outfits anymore. I also track in my budget sheet why and when I got rid of it, to learn from. I see from my trackings that I tend to purge an item about 2 years after it i purchased, but that is the average and some items I keep forever.

I don't but I can see that it could be useful to keep them - as a reference of what NOT to buy or wear? Hmmm...gotta think about this...

I think that keeping them might be a good idea, at least it would be for me. It might keep me from making the same mistake twice.

Good thread. I think I would keep in another folder - very positive to see your style evolution. I keep pics of all the returns I make (in another folder) to try and get a handle on what works. Perhaps it is similar to that.
