Do you have a robe capsule?

I really love robes as general loungewear-- they're convenient, comfortable, look great due to the column effect, and can be as thick and warm or as cool and ventilated as you like. I especially like them in luxurious fabrics! I wanted to share some of my capsule of 6 robes to show off recent purchases.

The size of the capsule is an indulgence but the cost per wear is very low since I wear one every day in the mornings and the evenings. I am on the lookout for a very light short-sleeved robe for hot summer days.

Would love to see other people's robes if you'd like to share.

I used to have a lovely quilted mint green robe. I don’t know where it is. I have a hoodie robe now... that I’ve also lost. I can’t ever find my robe... I end up wearing old sweaters...

I have a thick terry one for winter, and a nice cotton one for summer that my hubby had custom made for me! I prefer a robe in a washable material so that lotion smears or toothpaste spills are no big deal.

Your robe capsule is great and looks elegant as well as comfortable.

I want my robes to be long and machine washable. At present, I have three ones . Two are in a silk-look fabric (cotton & polyester) and look like your grey one, but are a bit more shiny. Mine are royal blue and deep grey. My third robe is in black velour with white embroidery on the shawl collar.

I wear my thin blue robe in spring and summer, my thin grey one in spring and fall, and my thick black robe in winter.

I have two, one for fall/winter, and one for spring/fall. They have been durable as both are over 8 years old, and show little to no signs of wear despite daily use in their respective seasons.

I own two robes.

The first is a red robe in a heavy, thick, thirsty terry cloth from Victory Secret. This was a great buy on my part because I got it on sale and the quality of this robe is beyond compare. It is mid-calf in length. Thick and warm during the winter months. Too thick and warm during the summer months.

The second robe is a men's full length silk robe in red. I wanted full length and due to my height I had to buy a men's garment. This proved to be a good decision. The silk is a nice quality and it is well made.

Both my robes are years old. I tend to wear them more during winter months than summer months.

I do too! I have a medium weight robe for daily use, not too warm not too cool. It is a tie waist and works after my shower to help dry my skin off (I hate getting dressed right away when my skin is still damp). Then I have a lightweight fleece for winter lounging in p.j.s and a light cotton zip up for summer p.j. lounging. They all work perfectly and I'll be sad when I have to replace them.

Love that red print one! I just have one lightweight one for post shower, but wish I could find a sleeveless opaque one for summer (HEWI), and would like a nice silky or batik one.

I have two robes. In winter I use a sherpa lined flannel one. It is Blackwatch tartan. I think it’s LL Bean. In summer I have a lightweight cotton one. I think it’s from Macy’s. They both come below my knees, to my shins. No pictures, sorry.

I scrambled to buy one for the hospital just before son #1 was born, and left it at the hospital. I replaced it last year with a cheapo, terrycloth one to wear after showering.

In winter, I love thick white terry robes like you find in hotels. In summer, I like a robe made of the fabric that Hammam towels are made of.

I prefer Hammam towels and robes for poolside as well. They dry much faster than terry and the towels stay put if you wrap them around your waist and tuck in.

I have a mini capsule of robes too! 3 for F/W and 2 (I think) for S/S. I always keep an eye open for a nice crisp cotton one to layer over pj's in the summer ....for wearing out on the deck in the morning with coffee etc. Winter capsule is strictly about warmth

I forgot about my travel set: shortish seersucker robe and nightgown. I had to get a new set, after our stay on St Paul Island, Ak. Our lodging had been constructed as a dorm for Exxon, and the bathroom was down the hall. My old travel robe was a bit too short for comfort when passing strangers in the hallway.

I created a robe capsule when I was pregnant with my first and it was very used and loved throughout the infancy of both my kids. It looking a little ratty now and probably needs to be updated soon. I usually throw one on every morning before I get dressed.

Silk is a great material for robes. Surprisingly I find less absorbent ones more wearable than thick cotton because they seem to remain cleaner longer.

Length is another good question. Any length will do if I have pajama pants on underneath, but when I'm bare-legged I want the robe to act as a long insulating skirt. So some are knee-length, some are shin- or ankle-length.

I've got a fleece one for winter, and two jersey knit ones for the rest of the year. I normally only wear them right after the shower. I don't like terry cloth robes, too heavy and take too long to dry.

I have one winter blush cosy one and two short summer ones in patterns. I don’t wear them a whole lot as I exercise first thing most days. But I do like them for the odd sleepy morning and quite night in winter.

But of course! I also have a black watch flannel LL Bean robe for winter, a men's cut so it would be long and wrap around me thoroughly. And I have a light weight Natori robe for warmer weather. I used to have an in-between cotton robe, also from Natori, but it disappeared in a piece of lost luggage. Boo.

This thread has made me want to update my robe capsule with a summer robe. My problem is I want longer robes and most of the robes I see in retail are geared toward winter.

Ditto what Sterling said. Even two of my winter robes are short...really part of a sick day capsule since they are used more like. bed jackets. Anyone remember them?
I also want a long summer robe. The lightest I have is a cotton knit (a gift) but it is too heavy and warm for summer. A billowy kimono would be ideal, or pull on mumu.

Joy - Oh yes, I remember bed jackets, and I would love to see them returning in retail! In the meantime, I have an offwhite soft bolero cardigan that I use as a bed jacket.
