do you have a fashion-related 'dirty secret'?

I was just sorting laundry and realizing how embarrassingly dismal (greyish, thin-worn, etc.) my athletic socks are. It's funny, because I'm generally extremely fastidious about clothes, accessories, lingerie, shoes, etc. I'm even good about 'normal' (dress) socks and stockings. But I never think about my athletic socks unless I have a reason to expose them (and then I'm totally embarrassed!). Anyone else have a sartorial blind spot?

We have had threads like this in the past. I also suffer in the sock department. I have mostly decent, even cute socks...but the comfiest ones are the pilled, thick, white, yucky ones. I only ever wear them with boots though.

Whaaaaaat your dirty secret is that your gym socks are scuzzy?? I think you can do better than that lol. There's no way i'm putting mine down now! XD

More than one of my bras has been (badly) altered by me to be 33B+s over the years Luckily I now seem to fit 32C mostly and only have to sometimes pull cups together with, again bad, alteration attempts.

It's no secret, but much of my high end gear is well over 10 years old. And I rarely wash it, in order to keep the "performance" qualities like waterproofness and stretch. But with gear I feel it is not about style (I'm talking clothes that have to take a beating), so until it rips or no longer fits, it stays.

Hmm, honestly, I overshare alot and tend to post my "secrets" all over the forum-- like the grandma hand-me-down thing and the fact I have worn prom dresses to other occasions ( I still wear them to weddings! gasp). Maybe the fact that I don't have a pair of undies that doesn't look like dogs or mice have chewed on it? That or I own many pieces of men's hand-me-down clothing and two things I bought to wear camping that make their way to school on occasion (I know!). Maybe the fact that my clothes are so odd that I never had a piece of women's clothing stolen out of the dryers at any laundromat or washroom while I was in college, but had men's clothing and towels stolen frequently. I also have a fondness for ballcaps.

I find my undies at their comfiest when they are old and have been washed so many times that they are super-soft... you can imagine how they look at that point!

I have way too many clothes, but only 3 nightgowns! Cant even remember buying them -they are SO old!

Yes---I've used duct tape to fix a hole in my pants--temporarily mind you!
And I like wearing mismatched coloured striped socks.

My favorite flannel bathrobe is threadbare! I just recently discovered a hole in the sleeve this past week, and the sash is starting to shred. I've had it for years; it's super soft and comfy from being washed so many times. I hate the thought of having to replace it.

Patty, I've been known, in a pinch, to use duct tape and a stapler to repair hems on the high school marching band uniforms. Desperate times call for desperate measures, especially with wardrobe malfunctions!

I can rarely find matching socks, and often wear two different ones under boots.

I've been shuffling around in holey toed, too big house shoes (sherpa lined slip ons) for the last couple of weeks because I don't want to buy anything new for winter right now. If my feet shrink even more, new slippers will be a complete waste right now.

Hmm, I think everyone covered mine. Few pjs, old bras and panties, and I wear my uggs almost constantly in the winter.

My exercise clothes are in terrible shape - the waistbands on my shorts are all stretched out, my shirts are pitted out and my bras are no longer 'firm support.' Its pretty pathetic, but since I exercise outdoors (as opposed to going to a gym) I don't really fret about it!

My unmentionables and socks are all in good shape and I don't own any exercise clothes.

I will admit that in the appropriate setting, I find Bean boots or wellies and a field jacket to be a very cute look:)

My sock collection is quite pathetic, and whether or not my bra and panties match is doesn't bother me in the least. DH doesn't seem to care either

About 50% of my clothes are old, stained, grungy stay at home clothes that I can never wear out in public anymore. I should get rid of some of them, but I get so attached to my clothes!
