Not my thing, but love them on others.

I'm over 60 and wear three pair regularly for casual wear. I feel that they are cute and comfortable for exercising, dog walking, etc. My 30-something sons are delighted to see me wearing them with jeans and a boyfriend blazer (never used to wear jeans). I like the look of Cons over athletic shoes and feel like the white toes make my feet look shorter.

I love mine! So comfortable and casual.

I have three pairs, including a knee high pair.

They add a fun punch to an otherwise grown-up and staid outfit.

Like! I have one pair of high tops in plaid from RL ... sort of a preppie take on them. I have to stuff them with shaped footbeds (superfeet). I rarely wear them however (the plaid might have something to do with that), can't figure out how to style them. I think Mary K looks really cute in them, and not age inappropriate at all!

I like them and definitely think they are cute. I have a black pair, a purple high-top pair and a blue pair. I often wear them when I am schlepping around the shelter animals for Vet appointments. They just pick up my spirits and make me smile!

OHMYGOSH! Airin, thank you so much for starting this thread! Because of it, I did a google search on my favourite "delux" leather converse hi tops, just on the off chance that they might be available, even though they were limited edition and hard to find two years ago when I bought them... and I found them! On Shoebacca.com!

This is fantastic because the pair I had has just worn through the soul. I am so delighted.

Here's a better picture:

Those are really cool, Laurel!
Wow, so many people answering this, didn't see this comming. Ok, I have to say I am 22 -almost 23, lol, but that's tomorrow. And still going to college. The most serious thing I do regularly is teach 5 year old kids, so they sort of suit my style. I don't wear them so often though because my coats/jackets are a bit more dressy and I love them, so I'll stick to cons only when I wear more sporty jackets or anoraks. I find them 'cute' because I think they add to a more childish look, just like polka dots, pink (on women), ballet flats, empire t-shirts or puffy short sleeves (think snowhite). Anyways, I'm not a native speaker of English so I may be using the wrong word.

Someone asked if my dad was referring to the 80s/90s punks. My dad was a Doc Marteens wearer, so now, he's not talking about those. He's talking about low-class working men, like a... trowel? Not to say there's anything wrong with that, he actually worked on that for sometime himself. But it seems that during the 60s and 70s these shoes were worn by the people who hadn't enough money to but fancier training shoes. That is, if you were a cool, rich person, you'd not wear those -at least in Spain. So he just can't understand the trend nor the price of the shoes now. Maybe he's right to some extent. If you watch this Grease video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c48Ol9xkaqM , John Travolta is wearing leather shoes while the 'working boys' are wearing the cons!

I vote yay. I have 2 pairs and wear them a lot, both to work and in more casual settings.

I think they're cute.

I think Cons are cute on others but not on me... something about them just makes them look like long, skinny boats on my feet. I think also that they only look good in very casual ensembles, which I rarely do. Plus I do not find them comfortable AT ALL (too flat and I find the canvas hard and scratchy).

I do have a pair of Simple sneakers in blue and white gingham, which are very fun and comfy, and which I wear with casual jeans and things like that. Kind of the same style as Cons but far more amenable (in both looks and comfort) to my feet for some reason.

I think they're cute. I have one pair, and wear them on occasion. I prefer to wear flats, boots, or sandals more frequently, but my Cons do get worn.

I was one of the people that wore them as a teen, but in the odd years between the time that they were popular with the 80s-alt. scene and the recent resurgence. Honestly, in my rural community that only people that recognized them at the time were people in their 50s that had worn them as basketball shoes back in the day! I got lots of positive compliments from that generation and it was kinda fun.

I can't wear mine anymore due to foot issues (need orthotics and they aren't deep enough even with the insole torn out) but I am not sure I would even if I could. They are so tremendously popular with all the teenagers these days (even the mall rat types). I still think they are cute on kids and on older men and women, but I think I am in the age group gap. I don't dressed polished or edgy enough to avoid the teenage connotations they carry. I think they can look very good on women that have a lot of style. It has to be a carefree, ironic look. I only cringe when I see older women wearing them with a sweatsuit or skinnies and a sweatshirt--- essentially emulating their teenage daughters.

I would go for a pair of these though:

Personally I wear Converse, but I think it all has to do with styling. Your father's comment reminds me of my dad's reaction to button-fly jeans when Levi 501s were popular (when I was a teenager). He said when he was young only people who could not afford zippers used buttons on their pants, so he couldn't understand how it became a fashion thing. He was quite impassioned about it. Interesting how these things work.

I have one pair in turquoise and love them with a blazer and jeans best. I think they are cute and they make me smile when I wear them.

I like mine for super casual outfits. I like to throw them on if I'm about to walk around town for a while matched with a pair of jeans. They aren't something I wear a lot, but they've almost turned into my standby for looking cute while being practical about what my day is about to consist of (especially if that day is going to consist of me riding my bicycle somewhere.)

I really like the look, but between dh hating them and me trying to dress up more, I don't think I'll be adding them to my closet any time soon.

I really like them now. I don't wear them frequently, but when I do, they never fail to make me smile. I didn't wear them as a teen, so maybe it can be argued that I'm making up for lost time?

I've had a mental block against Cons for the longest time, too, because all I've seen were ratty dirty ones.

I like them on others but haven't found pair for myself yet. Whenever I try one on, the chunky white sole always makes me put it back. The leather pair that Laurel posted looks interesting. I'll have to try those.

My dad almost exclusively wears low top chuck taylors. I have had a pretty funny collection of them throughout my life. I had yellow school bus cons, bright pink high tops (those were my favorites) american flag low tops (still wear those on the 4th of july) and low top pair that were made of a tapestry type material consisting of pink flowers on a hunter green background! I have to say I have not worn them much lately b/c I have gotten away from tennis shoes. I am also lazy and prefer my slip on / velcro closure Puma's!

To sum it all up - I love them but not so much on me

Every one finds converse cute.It will look even better if you try painting on it.You can alo hire a local artist to do the job for you.

I try different lacing styles for variety.

I am a big fan of converse like you and i have written a detailed post on them : http://www.kneehighconverse.in.....erse-shoes .Please check it and send your suggestions.

I love love my cons, they are my go to shoe. They are fun and comfortable
