HA - I felt the same way when YLFers started going gaga over BF jeans. I kept thinking, but, but...what about when Katie Holmes (then Cruise) kept trying to make BF jeans happen? She looked dreadful (imo). Still turned off by BF jeans because of that association.

You have my permission to be a cultural snob where Snooki is concerned.

If that makes for cultural snobbery, then i suppose you'll have to count me in. There are certain celebrities I have no desire to emulate...or appear that I might be emulating even if it's unintentional!

I'm afraid I feel the same way. So hard not to associate a look once you have seen it on someone who just doesn't do it well.

If there was ever going to be a line, I think we could all easily argue that Snooki would be it. A short one, given that she's so tiny, but definitely a line! I'm with you, Anna!

Oh yes! I bought a pair of sandals and then saw Kim Kardasian wearing them. I promptly returned them. I'm okay with most celebrities that have some type of actual talent, but I can't deal with the reality tv stars.

Only if that item is so very associated with them that I feel like I couldn't wear it without someone thinking I was trying to be like them. Some celebrities change clothes so often I don't really care if they wore what I wore *once.*

I won't purchase anything by the Kardashian's or Jessica Simpson. I'm a bit picky with celebrity items in general. I prefer to support items from companies where it is their business and not from somewhere that a name was just slapped on (such as perfumes or clothing).

I'm with Lisa. Even if the item in question is cute, I wouldn't buy it just because of the name on it.

i will say, jessica simpson shoes are very well made and well designed. i think she did a very high flatform shoe that has been imitated by some midlevel design lines.

I pay little attention to the kind of celebrities who would dis-influence me, but I totally understand where you are coming from.

Ironkurtin makes an excellent point though. If you don't look like you're copycatting a tacky celebrity, buy the clothes if you love them. It's not their fault who puts them on.

I do avoid retailers who are closely associated with celebs who put me off too badly though. There are lots of other stores out there.
