... Find yourself needing a spare $700 to make an outfit happen?

Because I'm dead broke at the moment and that's where I'm at.

Look at this combo. It's beautiful. And I have a burgundy fedora that'd be perfect with these pieces. And black or blue bootcut/flare jeans.

It is CLEARLY meant to be, and my shopping karma will keep all these pieces available in my size until I'm able to get them, right?...Right?

Really, I'm just dreaming, but all three of these ARE under consideration, with the shoes being my top pick (because they'd go with my fedora) and the green jacket being a close second (because I have the same jacket in black and adore it, and I've been really loving greens in my home and am liking the idea of wearing more green, too).

Ja, this fab! If anything Angie has taught me, if you hold out, the vision will come true! Because also there’s the issue of pictures v reality.

Well they are beautiful. But I doubt I have ever bought a $700 outfit except my wedding dress 36 years ago!
My advice is always get the SHOES. Those are amazing and would be fab with your fedora. And ha about Carmen San Diego! (from your other thread).

I spend on shoes. Otherwise I find that there is always something else that comes up that I would like and there is no need to go over my budget. I would wait to see if they go on sale, or if I could find something similar for less.

I’m a true believer in shopping karma, and maybe these exact pieces will or wont be available, but the right pieces will be available at the right time…and don’t forget about resell sites when the time is right.

Wait for the jacket go on sale or promo, substituting blouse for something simpler in the same ( or almost ) colors. Shoes are gorgeous but might be just a dream...

I would check The Rack for sale pieces by the same vendors. Often I can find something that isn’t identical but fills the same wardrobe gaps.

I always wait until they go on sale. If I pay full price and then they go on sale I’m mad at myself. Yes, these items would make a great outfit, but unless it’s a special occasion, I would wait.

Kaelyn, may I suggest this mixed media top instead. It had a MUCH better fit than the one under consideration. It's knitted and woven with a bit of a sheer sleeve. Gorgeous!

Agree that good shoes are worth extra money, and will also suggest Ebay and other second hand sites for all of these pieces or similar.

Those are beautiful and yes, the boots absolutely make it! That color is gorgeous. Darn it, I just did a bit of footwear closet editing and now I’m finding boots I don’t need but would love!

Everyone, thanks for the comments and the advice! I will likely get the shoes if they're still available in my size when I have the money for them, because they would fit so perfectly into my existing wardrobe. I'll consider the jacket for later, and I'll likely look for a similar blouse.

Angie - I appreciate the suggestion! That particular one won't work for me because it's polyester, but I can definitely keep an eye out for something that would work similarly. I do like the purple in the pattern on that one, too.

Mostly, this post was for fun, and I can save the outfit as an aspiration. Someday I'll make it happen.

I love setting things aside for inspiration. I had a Helmut Lang blazer on my Nordstrom wish list for several years (well past when it went out of stock), because I liked the cut so much, and I didn't want to lose track of it. I did end up getting a similar, less expensive one.

Update - I've now ordered the VERY LAST of that blazer, on sale, in my size, so clearly it was meant to be. Still thinking about the shoes but the price hasn't budged. It was easy for me to justify $118 for something I know will definitely work (I have the same jacket in black and I adore it - wore it today, actually!). Given that Angie said another blouse had a better fit, I'll most likely forgo this one. It keep an eye out for something similar that works for me. And I'm still considering the shoes - hoping the price will drop, and waiting until after I move either way.

We finally have a finalized date this coming Wednesday and I am SO excited. Doing laundry today and doing one last pre-move wardrobe assessment to see if there's anything else I'd like to pass on with other donation items.

Regarding the overall outfit here, even if it takes a while to make the look happen, I'm sure it will. And in the meantime, I am SUPER excited about how the jacket will fit into my existing wardrobe and am particularly looking forward to pairing it with my burgundy, red, and olive items this fall. I think it'll look nice with my orange pashmina scarf, too.

That’s fantastic news- the blazer and the move. I think you were so wise in your purchasing since you already know the fit of the blazer. Anything under $150 will be under $5 per wear once #30 wears hit, if you are interested in that.
I am not buying the beautiful fuchsia sandals on my wish list either while they are still $240. I think that’s ridiculous for sandals. I am waiting until I find something more reasonable.

Jenni, thanks for the reminder about cost per wear! That's a great way to think about the worth of items. I definitely see myself wearing this 30+ times because it's nice and light, perfect for indoors with air conditioning even when it starts getting a bit warm outside.
