Do you care if your wallet coordinates with your purse?

I'm not a purse lady...at all. I admire the beauty of them, but I don't want to be switching all the time. I have three Coach and that's it. One red I carried exclusively for about ten years, currently resting. One black I haven't used very regularly. And in current daily exclusive use for the past year, a purple one.

My wallet of about 20 years just fell the rest of the way apart. And now I've got it in my head that I want a purple wallet so it will look good with my purse. The only one I can find in the style I want is ~ $100!

There is a cheaper one in black and white linen I'm looking at, but it doesn't come in purple. I'm not sure why I care, because the ancient brown leather one and didn't look good with any of my purses.

What do you do? Especially if you are a purse collector and have and use many?

I only have one wallet, and I don't plan to get more. Never even considered coordinating with my purse!

So funny you ask. For some time I was caring around a Mandarina Duck nylon wallet. But it was brown and I kept thinking if it were navy it would work so much better with all my bags. Then, lo and behold, I found its navy leather sister and I am very content. I guess I like my wallet to go with all my bags, but not necessarily match.

I love buying purses and wallets but I've never given a thought to them needing to match! I recently bought a new wallet, to downsize, to make it easier to use my clutch style bags. I think you should pick a style and color you love without worrying about matching.

Funny you should ask. My sister likes to match her bags and wallets:) She doesn't do it all the time but I know she has multiple wallets I don't bother. My wallet is black and I carry it until time for a new one. I do have two others (both gifts) and the smaller one comes into use if I am carrying a particularly small bag.

Bright colours are easier to find in the depths of any bag I might choose to carry. My current wallet is bright green leather. It replaced a red one. Matching is certainly not de rigeur.

Well, this is just the kind of thing that I get to contemplating sometimes, too. I like having a wallet in a color I like to see every day, but one that doesn't clash with my purses. My wallet is teal with green trim and green inside. It bothers me that the green is a shade that clashes with my green trench coat. (Although really, you don't see the green till I open the wallet.) But otherwise I love having a teal wallet, and it goes with my neutral taupe and black purses and even coordinates, colorfully, with my purple purse. Before my current wallet, I had one that was a bright blue that is almost turquoise. I loved how it went with everything, and the color made me happy every time I saw it--several times a day!

Funny, I used to have a black card case ( I don't use a full size wallet) and when it got lost I really wanted another black one, but couldn't find its replacement. I ended up with bronze, not really a color I use but it was the right size and the right price. I also am not much of a bag lady and am using a purple one for daily use, just like you. Long way of saying my wallet and bag don't match. But I don't care, even though I thought I would.
(the wallet works as a wristlet of sorts on it's own since it has a chain - and I use it this way a lot in FL when I don't want to carry extra weight or a hot bag on my shoulder during my walks)

I did switch away from black wallet as I had trouble digging it out of the black abyss of my purse for so long! The patterned or colour wallet is a real easy way to express your style and I find it a spirit lifter to bring out my colourful wallet. I don't worry about matching but coordinating is fun.

I have absolutely no worries about my wallet matching my handbag. I do like having a wallet that is in a color that I like though - currently I have a Kate Spade green one - love it!

I'm with Carla and others who want a color you can find in your bag. I also want a wallet that makes me smile when I pull it out. I use one with all my bags, and the current model is bright orange with a turquoise bird by Fossil.

I do what Carla and joy do. My last two wallets have been yellow. They are always easy to find in my dark colored purses

I don't even use a wallet right now. I have a cheap aluminum card case and a titanium money clip. Both go with all my purses

My last wallet was bought to go (but not match) with my bags, but it was a crazy organizer wallet with two identical sides that zipped and I could never remember which side I wanted to open up. It was really, really heavy too, so I ditched it and inherited an old black change-purse size wallet from my daughter to hold me over. I'm still using it. As long as I wind up with a solid neutral, I think I'd be okay with it and it would go with most everything.

Like many I just buy the color I like. I don't even use the logic of being able to find the wallet in your bag! What a clever thought!

Well, given that you used your previous wallet for 20 years, $100 doesn't seem like all that much if you're going to love it that long!

That being said, I usually try to NOT coordinate, because I want something that stands out and is easy to find in my bag. My (only) purse is black, and my wallet is hot pink. I don't own anything else in that colour, so it's always easy to spot!

I am not matchy-matchy with my wallets. I always only have one active wallet and several purses, so the wallet can't match. In fact, I just bought a new bag and wallet, and I purposely did not get the matching wallet -- it was just too much matching for me! I like what others are saying about the need to have a wallet that can be easily seen, too.
I actually don't think $100 is too much to pay for a wallet, given the fact that you use it every day. But I noticed that the wallet you are thinking about is linen, and I wonder about its longevity. I wonder if a leather wallet in an interesting color or print might be a better investment. Just a thought.

Absolutely not. As a matter of fact, I prefer that my wallet be a bright color that contrasts with the rest of what's in my purse so I can find it easily. The one I have now is an emerald green genuine croc wallet my DH bought for me on our most recent trip to Central America. We went straight to the family that makes them, and got a good deal.

I like it to "go with" but not match and I like it to be in a bright colour, usually red. This is for the reasons the others gave -- it's easy for me to find in my bag.

I have four wallets and always use the cheapest and smallest of them all. It just fits anywhere and has all the right pockets. I feel guilty though, because I have a beautiful leather wallet and don't use it. I guess I'll have to change that.

The one I use has a floral print in browns and dark reds, so it doesn't coordinates with my black bags. Neither do my leather one, which is purple and fucsia nor one I got as a present which is a very light brown with a cat on it. I really don't care as long as it has all the right pockets and space, which I am very picky about.

For me, the wallet's key component is functionality - does it have enough sections, fit comfortably in my hand, open with ease, etc. I don't worry about it coordinating with my purse since it's the purse everyone sees and my wallet for only a minute or two.

I have one wallet, it is black with four pyramid studs. Yes, I gave over $100 for it, but it is my only wallet, it perfectly fits everything I need, and I use it every single day!

It does not match my purse. *shrug* Don't usually see it unless I am paying for something.

Ditto to what froggiebecky said. I think I bought my current wallet -- a green Matt & Nat -- about 5-6 years ago, and it still looks perfect, so I'll continue to use it. I figure the cost per use is down to fractions of pennies by now. So a good wallet you will use for years can be worth the price, if you find the one you really love.

I change out handbags frequently, so I don't worry about matching wallet to bag. I agree with everyone who likes having a wallet in a color for ease of finding in dark bags.

I could change purses every single day and not be bothered, but changing wallets is SUCH a pain to me! About 7 years ago, I found THE wallet to end all wallets (Hobo Int'l Lauren), and it holds a TON. I'm talking multiples of lipstick, cards, coupons, Square, even the iphone will fit sometimes. To change wallets would mean something got left, because the only thing to hold everything would be another Hobo. I finally replaced my old one after 6 years...only because I got tired of it. They last and last! My first was metallic bronze, and kind of went with everything (carries nice as a clutch too), my newest one is a violet/wine color, it's still easy to see in bags, which is all that matters.

I definitely don't match wallet to purse! When I travel I do downsize to a small zip pouch. I figure I don't need things such as my library card when I'm away.

I am, however, pathologically matchy matchy when it comes to my purse, shoes, and the rest of my outfit. I'm bookending. Yeah, that 's it.
