Do we need a secret YLF password?

I was in Nordstrom's today and saw a super stylish woman shopping. She was wearing a skirt which was almost identical to the Halogen yellow raisin pencil skirt, a black cardigan with a statement necklace, black tights and the Cole Haan Air Whitley boots (one of Angie's NAS picks). Oh, and she was wearing killer specs.

She came up to the sales associate who was helping me to ask a question. I thought to myself that she just *had* to be a YLFer. So, I looked her straight in the face, smiled, and said "you look fab!"

Not a flicker of recognition crossed her face.

Which brings me back to my question, should we have a secret password or handshake when we spy suspected YLFers?

Does this ever happen to any of you????

How about "yelf"? As in the pronounciation of "YLF"? No YLFer would turn down a compliment - did she even say thank you, at least?

OMG, I think you nailed it perfectly, Debora! If you'd come up to meand said "you look fab," I would TOTALLY have taken it as a secret YLF greeting!!

I was gonna say--I hope that at least she was appreciative of the compliment.

I was in the library cafe today and saw an older lady who was really stylin' in a very unique and colorful way. Unfortunately, this is Boston and you don't go up and talk to strangers here without the high risk of being thought threatening

Una and Mochi, I should have added that she did smile and say thank you, but she clearly did not pick up on the secret YLF reference, LOL!

The chances of stumbling upon fellow YLFer in the suburbs of a small English town are fairly miniscule, but who knows... we definitely need a password.

Patience and I were out shopping one day a few years ago and a lady came up and said she recognized us from YLF! I assume she was a lurker because we hadn't seen her post that much. : )

Debora, I love that you did that! I would have totally thought she was a YLFer too by your description, sounds like an amazing look!

On a makeup forum, someone said we should pantomime putting on mascara if we thought we saw a member in real life. But the name of this forum is the perfect password

I saw a blogger in the street once who I admire and I blurted out "blog love!" before hurrying past. I did feel rather silly

Ornella it may not be as rare a chance as you think. Several years ago I was on holiday in Mevagissy (sp) in Cornwall when I heard look there's Miss.... (my surname) I didn't think it could possibly be me until I got a tap on the hand and it was one of the children I looked after at the time and his family. Neither of us knew the other was going to Cornwall and such a coinsidence that we chose the same afternoon to visit the same small fishing village x

Ornella, you are so right. Not only would a YLFer not turn down a compliment, she would then turn around and give full credit to Angie and the wonderful ladies of YLF.

What a cute story. "You look fab" is perfect for a secret code!

How about "Killer to the power of killer!"?

Or just say, "Is that yellow raisin?" Any regular YLF'er will know right away what you're talking about, and everyone else will think you're crazy.

I always get my hopes up when I'm at Nordstroms -- I figure the odds of crossing paths with a YLFer are greatly increased there . . .
