Do We Favor Denim Overalls?

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05.....e.html?ref The New York Times is suggesting adding denim overalls to a summer wardrobe. They admit they are polarizing. I am thinking that overalls that cost between $300 and $375 are pretty fancy schmancy. Out here in corn country, we can get them for about $40 at Tractor Supply.

I like denim overalls, I used to have a pair that I wore a lot in the 90's --- but I'd be more interested in thrifted ones or well broken in Tractor Supply ones as long as the fit on the legs and ankles worked well and looked contemporary as they would be for super casual wear on me.

Alternately I'd go for PU or waxed black or something obviously fashion-y

I loved my denim overalls back in the 80s. My mother, not so much.

Another 'been there done that' in the 90's gal. I had the short-alls market covered. Black, denim, white, maybe red? Enough that I'm good

I want to edit to add never say never - I might someday try again in a luxurious fabric like silk or suede.

I never liked them for myself, but they are a good look on the right person. I have a friend who is over 50 who looks great in them.

They were trendy for a very brief time in junior high back in the late 70's. I remember some girls looking cute in them. Being incredibly busty, ahem, is not going to work with that look.

You know I love them on other people, but just couldn't do the look myself. I have a pregnancy association with them as various times they have been very popular and IMHO unattractive pregnancy wear.

I adored, adored mine in the 80s. I felt thin and hip. Of course, I also adored and felt thin and hip in an absurd, clown-like calico jumpsuit that made me look like a giant toddler. That gives me serious pause, lol.

Nay. Fit issues. Big boobs that would make me look pregnant in them. And the how to keep the clothing out of the potty? Also overalls ? I did a pair in the oughts ,and it's the only pair of pants that I split the backseam on. Not a fun association.
