Do these shoes make my feet look like boats?

They are a bit long, at 8.5. I'm pretty sure I will keep, though. They're awfully cool. Thanks, Janet!

Sorry, no effort put into styling them. But they're going to be very versatile.

The one thing: I don't know if it's just this pair, but they REEK. It's a very strong chemical smell. I'm hoping it wears off.

No. I'm very conscious of this because I wear a 10. Can you put them in the garage until they stop smelling?

Heh, it's not like they smell from a distance. Thank god. But up close, it's this chemical scent. I live in a condo so no garage. It's weird but I'll still wear them.

It'd be a question of them ordering me another pair, because these were the last in my size in-store. Lord and Taylor does not offer free shipping, so of course I wanted to try them on.

I'm wearing them now and I don't smell them. It's really not noticeable unless you put them up to your face. I'm just hoping it wears off. I never experienced this before.

Great shoes, and your shoes look perfectly fine.

Strange smell tip that works: Put them in a big closed ziplock with a lots of rice - rice is great at adsorbing odors, as well as moisture.

Rice in bag, or stuff them with newspaper - that also works.

No, they don't look like boats Although I know what you mean - that's my worry with those type of shoes too , especially the pointier ones. I'm a 7.5/8 and sometimes those leather long-front sneakers can exaggerate the foot.

You know, I never, ever worry about my feet looking big (at 5'7" and a shoe size of 8, I think my feet might be a little smaller than average), but I also had a moment of wondering whether these shoes made my feet look big. I think it's just looking down at that shiny toe cap. They look great on you!

Mine have zero smell to them, but mine were the display pair. Maybe the smell will dissipate quickly if they are left out of the box.

Like J'Aileen I'm a 10 and can honestly say that they look great and do not look big at all. Glad you're keeping them. Do you have a small fan that you could set up on them for a few hours? I've had that help to air out a lot of different things.

I once had a pair of metallic shoes that had a bad chemical smell. It did wear off over time.

No, they look good. Not boat like at all! You could try freshly ground coffee to get rid of the smell. Not the used grounds, but fresh from the package. I have some little cotton drawstring bags, I think they held jewelry at some point. I fill them with ground coffee. Then I wrap in tissue paper in case anything leaks through. You can put one in each shoe. It really works. I have done the same with musty smelling leather jackets too.

I think they look pretty good! I think it's because they have a pointier toe and a narrower silhouette. If they were more rounded and wider they might have looked more like boats. I've noticed this a lot with the slip on sneakers (leather style).

They look great. I think the toe cap actually breaks up the top of the shoe line so that it shortens the look. I have big feet for my height and size and have had to make peace with what looks to me like boats, as long as they don't cause tripping.
