Do I want these sweaters?

Stepping back from the home furnishings tear I’ve been on, I need to make K/R decisions about these sweaters. I’m more favorable on one than the other. I’ve tried them on with most of the bottoms in my current wardrobe here. Some of those items will be new to you, like the pleated wool skirt I wore in formal photos taken when I was in 10th grade, and the Liberty skirt that I got around 8th grade. I’ll have to do another post about my latest hit on closets and storage spaces at my parents’. Right now the focus is on the sweaters and if I should keep them. I’m tired and procrastinating from work I’m supposed to do, so may have forgotten that you’re never fully dressed without a smile and these pix are unedited (except for brightness on the watchplaid pants). I’m also missing appropriate undergarments, footwear, and accessories for that matter. I hope you can fill in the details in your minds. Thanks for looking and for any comments and suggestions.

I vote keep both. Some go better than others with the different bottoms but they are cool. The pink is on trend this year too.

I would keep the roses as being more the direction you want to go.

The floral one looks fantastic, the pink one looks very good. They'll both be easy to work into your current palette. My only hesitation with the floral is the 3/4 sleeves. I find I pretty much always reach for a long sleeve instead of a 3/4 sleeve so those pieces languish no matter how good they look. The pink one also looks more layer-able to me, better for true winter wear.

Both sweaters work for you - they have pink/berry colors that are your signature in a way. I do agree that 3/4 sleeves are limiting in a winter though.
I like the printed skirt in #6 ( playful, lots of movement - very "you" ) and velvet black pants with embroidery in #13 - fun pieces.

Ithink that the pink one is the most versatile so if you can’t keep both that’s the one l would go for .The colour is great on you and pink is very current so will make everything look fresh .l really like the proportions of the outfit #4 on you and congratulation on being able to get into stuff from your teenage years.l could not get anything from my school years on these days!

I see I’m in the minority here. I love the pink one on you. It’s a great color and I love the way you’ve styled it. I find the floral one to be to “twee” for your style, great colors but the floral combine with the fabrication & sleeve length just doesn’t add up to you.

I love the pink one. It's a fab colour for you and versatile. I'm less keen on the floral one. The pattern feels on the staid side to me and the background a bit too dark. Having said that, I do like in in #7. And there might be other pattern mixes you'd enjoy.

I am with Kkards and Suz, really like the pink on you and - it is very flattering and like the outfits with it. The floral one is OK, but not as versatile. I would decide based on how many of the ways it has been styled you really like.

I find that a solid color like pink is more versatile considering the number of patterned bottoms you wear. And looks lovely, too.

I think the pink one is more versatile for your purposes, and the color looks nice on you. The floral is pretty but doesn’t play with your wardrobe as well, IMHO. It also reads quite wintry and the pink seems more season-spanning.

I think the floral one is gorgeous on you, and I prefer the fit. Outfits 14-15 are both elegant. I completely agree that the pink is more versatile; perfect with the skirts in 6 and 9.

I agree with others though that the color scheme and print on that one is a bit more ladylike than your usual style.

The pink seems like a slam dunk for your style and color palette!

I do like a lot of the pattern mixes with the floral sweater, esp 7, 8, 13 -- but that might be because I like them for ME iykwim.

I hear what others are saying about 3/4 sleeves in winter but in certain parts of the South that would be just right for winter, temperature-wise. So it depends on exactly what the climate is where you are.

It was so interesting for me to read these advices. I love both and am partial to the print because I like pattern mixing but a wonderful point that the solid seems more transeasonal.

The floral is beautiful on you, but I'm not sure about it with any of these bottoms. I love the fit, the print, and the neckline, though.

The pink definitely works better with the majority of your bottoms (the skirts especially) but something about the combination of the welted bottom and the cable-knit reads quite conservative to me, doubly so when paired with your older classics. It's not quite there, but it's bordering on that Midwestern farm wife look you're trying to avoid. It's practical, though.

I like them both! My fave outfits with the pink are #3 and 4. My faves with the floral are #12, 13 and 14. Pretty!

I think they're keepers! To me the 3/4 sleeves are fine for winter, cause if it's cold you'd wear a coat outside.

I’m thinking the pink one as well if you’re only keeping one, it already goes with plenty of what you have already, and looks super on you. The floral one is pretty as well, but isn’t quite as versatile as the pink.

Can I go against the grain and say that if you need a sweater and really want one, I'd vote for the floral--but then I'm a sucker for moody prints. I'm voting against the pink one because I recognize the brand on it, and have learned to stay away from it. I love simple, classic looks, so I'm drawn to some of their items, but something about the cuts of that brand veer, on me, into that "I'm wearing these clothes because they are practical and tidy and clean" territory that Jenn mentioned. (I'm avoiding calling it "farm wife," because I have a high regard for my family who live in rural areas, and prefer not to use them or their neighbors as a stereotype.) I haven't pinpointed exactly what it is about the items that causes that feeling, but it's pervasive enough to make me cautious.

Do you still have the burgundy flares? I'd love to see the floral one with those. Or with the bottoms in 2, and pop your red puffy jacket over it. And what about the red boots? (I realize some of these items might still be in transit.)

The sweater has a very traditional preppy cut and fit. The only update to that look is a current color. If you wanted Pretty Preppy to be your look going forward, it would be a good pick. However, what I have seen in your recent choices has been more Tromping the Moors than Sailing Nantucket. I think the floral is better suited to a bit more moody and romantic style. I agree with Bijou that it needs a lower key supporting act than what you happened to have with you; I think you have some solid bottoms that would work, or you could pair it with a small scale print or weave.

I’m not a fan of either one.
I think the style of the floral works better with midi skirts but the color is too dark for you. The pink looks good as a color but the cabling and style don’t look modern to me and the fit, while not too tight, is just more fitted than I think is a modern updated look- something more fluid , but not oversized, looks better I think.
It depends on what’s already in your wardrobe and whether you think you need more options ir would end up wearing these instead of some of your combinations and silhouettes that look better and fresher on you. And if adding something new I would hold out for something not already a bit dated looking.

I think the pink goes better with you - I'm drawn to the black florals, but I think you & I have different style directions (so I see that more as a caution than a green light).
