Do I need a white & a faded blue cropped denim jacket?

Hi ladies,

I don't want to buy more than I need. Is there a need for both? If I have a faded blue one I can wear it with dresses & also with dark wash jeans. TIA

It all depends!

On your lifestyle, where you live, how often you wear denim jackets, etc.

I actually have a faded wash denim jacket, a dark wash denim jacket in a different style (collarless), a white denim jacket, AND a military style medium fade denim jacket!

I'm a WAH, MOTG who lives in a very casual city and I wear my jackets as a layer under winter coats so they are 3 season items for me - winter, spring, fall. I wear them less in high summer because we have hot summers where I live and jackets are not required. I do find the white one is a spring/summer item primarily, and the faded one is a late summer, fall, spring item, primarily. I wear the darker wash one in fall/winter.

Suz are you someone who has a lot of clothes? A large closet? Would you be able to get away with just one cropped denim? Are they all cropped? Thanks:)

I already own a high hip length dark wash denim blazer. I bought & am deciding what to keep a faded crop, faded hip, white crop & faded distressed crop vest all in denim jacket style. I'm thinking that I might need to keep all except the white because it has the same fit as the faded crop. The others would serve a different function but the only difference with the white one is the color. White is faded but the other one being faded is summery too. Maybe though I would feel better wearing the white with blue jeans than the blue one, even though my jeans are dark wash & the jacket is faded.

ETA: and in winter with jeans I could maybe wear the hip length faded or a hip length dark brown leather jacket I have.

Agree that it really depends on lifestyle and need. Personally, I need to have at least one white cropped jacket for my spring/summer wardrobe. For me, this is a white blazer; I wouldn't get much wear out of a white denim jacket, because I would much rather just wear my faded one if I want denim. If blazers aren't your thing but you do wear a lot of jackets, then you might get good use out of both a faded and white denim jacket.

When I'm in CA, I live in Tahoe. I have a denim blazer (I've worn maybe once a year in the 3 years I've had it), and a crop white cotton (not as heavy as denim but looks the same) jacket. I've worn the white one more in the last few months I've owned it than the denim blazer I've had for years.
I found I never wore the denim blazer precisely because I wouldn't wear it with jeans. I do have a light weight cotton hip length blazer I wear quite a bit. We are all different, though. So if I had to choose, I'd go with my crop white one, and then the off grey cotton hip length, and I'd ditch the denim blazer altogether.

I have a white and a light blue one (in the exact same style, actually) and wear them both with some regularity with skirts, dresses, crops, and shorts. Never with denim bottoms though. I do find the blue one easier to wear but I like how the white one lightens up a lot of my rather dark outfits for spring/summer.

I have both, and I need them. The whites are playing with all sorts of colourred outfits, and the faded denim, with the whites one:-)

I have not only a white and a light blue denim jacket, but also a red one (got on sale about a month ago and it hasn't been out to play yet, but it will be a great fall piece). I would say without hesitation that I need and love both the white and the blue one. The white is more crisp, and the blue more relaxed, even though the cuts are very similar. Some outfits just feel more "right" with one rather than the other, and the white one especially gets a lot of wear in the summer, when my color palette lightens up.

Elle, I hesitate to tell you how many jean jackets I have. One lighter wash cropped, two dark wash, and -- gulp -- three white at the moment (two cropped, one regular). The reason for so many whites is that I found I was repeatedly wanting to grab a jean jacket and realizing I was already wearing jeans on the bottom. I don't like that matching head-to-toe denim look, but a white jacket with dark jeans looks fine to me. Also, I keep a small wardrobe at SO's house, so a couple of these jackets are there at any given time.

The cropped ones I like with dresses; the non-cropped ones I use when I'm freezing on Amtrak or in the grocery store or at a soccer game, or anytime I know a jacket will get muddy and I want to be able to throw it in the washer.

Two does not seem excessive to me, especially if the lengths are different. But what do *you* think? Does the second one fit a need that you have?
