With today's outfit, I'm carrying a black handbag, which works fine but made me think I'd really like a lighter colored bag that would work for this type of moderately dressy outfit. I do have a couple of light colored bags but they are by and large too casual (I have a couple of fabric ones and my silver leather backpack); I also have my gold J Crew convertible clutch but it's too small for an all-day outfit like today's (I need to carry my ipad, umbrella, and lunch along with the essentials like wallet, keys, and phone).

Bags I already own that would work with today's type of outfit (in terms of dressiness and practicality) are the medium size black tooled bag I'm using today, my big black leather laptop tote, and my slouchy teal tote. All dark. So do I need a light colored one? Keep in mind that I wear a lot of dark/saturated colors all the time, including in summer, so dark handbag probably would go with most outfits. On the other hand, maybe a lighter color bag would make things more summery.

If I get one, it would have to be pretty big. The size of today's bag (it's approximately 13x10x3) as small as I could go and have it still be useful. Would that be too big of a block of light color in a dark outfit? I'd need a full zipper closure and handles that are long enough to go over the shoulder. Any suggestions? Also, what color do you like for me? I was thinking a pale, not-too-shiny metallic, or possibly light grey? I don't think I can keep cream or white clean, although they are pretty.
