Do I dare to flare?

Petite flares from Anthro arrived. They are just about an inch too long although I intend to leave them nearly ground-dragging. Other than that, what do you think? Can all 5'1" of me handle this look? Or am I too short and wide? Pic 1 is how I remember standing around with a comb in my back pocket in junior high back in the 70s. Yep.

Also ordered this swingy striped tunic in an attempt to join the Striped Brigade. Is it too pregnancy-suggesting or unflattering? It is super-comfortable, of course. But I don't want to look like it's all me in there.

Honest opinions welcome!

Love the flares! They look terrific. I think the top is fun. It looks like it is tapered a little through the waist--preventing it from looking boxy. Nice haul!

The flares look great! They are flattering and seem to fit you well, but you need the right shoes .Pointy toed shoes are the ones Angie recommends, but any shoes that are somewhat more refined than the ones you're wearing would probably be OK. Your height is absolutely not an issue. I think the flares are a keep. I love them on you!

As for the striped top, here's some tough love. It doesn't make you look pregnant, but it does make you look top heavy. I'm not sure whether it's because it's too long, too wide, or both, but it definitely doesn't look right to me. Sorry, but you are very attractive and can do better.

Yes, yes, YES you can and should dare to flare! Those jeans look great on you and you do NOT look too short at all.
I'm not as much in love with the striped top, although I certainly think you can wear stripes.

The striped top is going back - it would be so easy to keep but I feel it is just too tent like and does nothing for me.

So far the flares are getting a thumbs up. Are they enough flare to distinguish from boot cuts?

Love the jeans. You look long and lean and they are a very strong and attractive look. The tee is fine but I'm not crazy about it for you. I see it's going back. I may well have missed an explanation somewhere but could someone definite the difference between bootcuts and flares please:)

Wow, the jeans look like they were made for you. They look flare-y enough to me, like Angie's. The tee is nice but I agree that it is not perfection. You look fab with those cool shades, by the way!

Short and wide? Nope. When flares are right, they make everyone look longer. I love these on you and think they'd be a fun silhouette for your spring/summer. They're perfect for cooler climes, I think, where people can wear long pants on most days and be cool enough. Love the wash.

Una - that flares are stunning on you. Perfect proportions. I like them with the jacket best, probably because this is the way I prefer to wear my bootcuts. I'm only 5'3" but I have long legs but when you are petite it's a lot of curvy volume. I wear a black tank, black belt and my Gibson riding jacket. You jacket does the same thing -defines waist so makes you into a slim hourglass and the curve out at the shoulder, and hip then really balance the flare!! This is sooooooooooooooooooo elegant on you. Very posh!! I love cowboy boots with the look because I prefer a substantial boot to balance the weight of the denim and they have a pretty pointy toe and texture for interest, but that's just me. I think you look awesome!! The top, I only see the volume in 1, it's cute, but I think you've been trying to pick things that are 10's. I think there is probably one with less volume out there that is just as adorable, but that being said, I liked it!!

Love the flares. You look great in them. I agree with others that a different shoe would work better. My favourite look is with the blazer but that is how I wear jeans. The wash on the jeans is beautiful. I think flares elongate the leg.

Thanks ladies! Just to clarify, the citron striped tee is mine and its old. The last hidden photo is the one I decided to return. And the shoes are my house slippers! Didn't have time to style... Plus the hems won't stay folded!

I think both are keepers. Either wear the jeans with higher hems or get them shortened a bit. They flare just right!

Cause I recently bought it in dark blue, which is really bright blue, and this would be so funny that we keep looking at the same things! Except I like it and am keeping it, but it is a bit volumizing I agree. I'm going with the "eschew traditional figure flattery" option on this one!

Proportions look fabulous on you, flares and top with and without jacket. Terrific balanced look, very fresh. Post- 70s I never stopped wearing flares but did let go of the back pocket comb. Thanks for the fun flash-back!
