Do aviator sunglasses ever go out of style?

I have two pairs of big "glamorous" sunglasses and a pair of Ray-Bans in a smaller version of the Wayfarer type frame. But I've been thinking about getting a pair of aviator style as well, just for fun. Here's a couple of options, very crudely mocked up in photoshop -- what do you think?

I like the 2nd pair better. I hope they don't go out of style, I just got a pair this spring and have been wearing them daily since. I think they were on Michael Kors list of top 10 things a woman needs and are classics.

I'd say they are classic shape and would be a good long-term investment. Worth getting the ones with polarizing effect, if they make such, as that feature would make them excellent driving glasses too for when the glare on the road is strong.

Aviators - like Wayfarers - are an iconic classic. They never go out of style.

I don't fancy the double bar across the forehead in these styles. I vote stick to the iconic classic.

Never. I like the shape of the second ones on you. I wish I could wear aviators (but I find the nose pads too uncomfortable). These look SO good on you!

I think these are now classics! I so love them, but they so don't love me back I really need square shaped frames for my sunglasses.

I think they're a classic and they work with your face shape. I'm another one who can't wear aviators at all, because my low, flat nose means I need sunnies (and glasses in general) that have more coverage above the bridge.

I cannot imagine they will ever by unstylish. Seriously. Top Gun. Ah-nold in Terminator Two (or was it Three?) You don't get cooler than that!

I'm with Angie, I don't like the double bar. It has potential for Unibrow Effect.

A vote for #2 - the more classic aviator shape!

I think aviators never go out, too iconic. I peruse The Purse Forum, and the younger ladies there are always on the hunt for Ray-Ban aviators - at a discount, of course - and it seems every blogger who wears shades in their photos will sport a pair of aviators along the way.

Hmm, I'll have to see if I can find a pair with a less pronounced double bar. I didn't even look at that part, and now it seems like all of the ones I see have this detail.

Probably because I'm looking at men's prescription frames, as these will have to be Rx shades if I do order them, but maybe I'll look at a few more retailers.

Thanks for the reassurance, all! I could not decide if the shape just emphasized the roundness of my face or if it looked ok.
