My “Summer” shibori tie dye project became epic.

First, it was delayed by our heavy rains through the first months of the year.

Then, because the weather was cooling, I decided to try doing some long sleeve tees with my short sleeve tees.

That’s when things got out of control.

I liked my first try so much that I decided to do more. This time I worked up a plan to tie dye at least one long sleeve top for each of my winter skirts and pants.

But I also kept trying new patterns as I went. So every time I tried a pattern that worked, I thought, ooh, I must try that again in another colour or style of top. A textbook vicious circle

I think my project has become a hobby now.

To avoid a big photo dump, I’m just going to post the short sleeve tees here. I will post long sleeve tees in a Part 4 (!!!) later. As the weather is cooling here, I may have a few photos of me wearing them in a few weeks.

Notes:

There are lots of green and blue-green combinations, because that’s a favourite of mine and hard to find at retail. I’m still exploring options for dusty pink, plum, rust and burgundy.

No 3 was a complete fail. But it gave me the idea for the design of no 6, which I love and have used multiple times since.

No 5 was a partial fail. But it gave me the idea for the design of a long sleeve tee, which was a success. I will show that later.

No 18 is a top I made for my Mum for Mother’s Day.

I think that I learnt and improved. To be honest, the more I do, the more I love it. I am addicted.

Your thoughts welcome. Tell me your favourites and I’ll tell you mine.
