DIY: Denim Jacket Re-work - YouLookFab Forum

Hi Ladies,

We are on school holidays at the moment so excuse the sunnies but after a day spent at home with four 9 year old boys, lets just say Im not at my best lol. Master 9 had a great day though

I managed to hide away for a while and have a play with a denim jacket. I love the look of the cropped denim jacket but I am short and I appear to be high waisted so I can never find a denim jacket short / cropped enough... SO this one was on the donate pile and I cut the band off, shortened the jacket and reattached the band. Now this was a very 'shonky' job as I hand sewed the band (I really need a good sewing machine). Because of this there is some fraying showing between the jacket and the band BUT I kind of felt this was a little RATE... at least my version of RATE (maybe not Una RATE).

So how does the jacket look? Is this ok lengthwise etc. If you think so I will take my other jacket to my seamstress and have it done professionally.

And please if I am totally misguided about the fraying being a bit "RATE" do let me know

Jacket looks good, I like the wash. I have found Esprit have some nice cropped denim jackets at the moment in a few different styles.

I like the jacket & with the top & think the length is great, but I'm not sure about the pants. It may just be the light.

Caro thank you! The pants were just what I had on this afternoon, definitely not what I would wear with the jacket:). I'm thinking more skirts and dresses with the jacket:)

I think you did a great job on the jacket. I don't even mind the bit of fraying as it seems to go with the jacket.

Clever, Deborah! This is a great length for dresses. I like the little extra bit of fraying, it looks intentional.

It looks great! I had the same problem with cropped items for many years. Eventually found some from junior's stores. I love how you took matters into your own hands and saved an orphan.

Like Rae, I've found denim jackets cropped enough in the junior section. You did a great job on that one. I'm considering shortening and cutting off the sleeves of a white denim jacket to make a vest, so your work is very inspiring.
