I saw a picture of a similar belt on Pinterest (copying a JCrew belt, I believe, that was quite pricey.) I found a leather belt at the thrift store for $1.99, bought 10 skeins (2 each orange, yellow, lime green, turquoise blue, and salmon red/pink) of embroidery thread @ $.37/each. It took about two hours of labor to wrap the belt completely. I put a dot of Elmers glue on each knot on the backside of the belt.

I'm pleased with the way it turned out. Hubby and I are leaving for a trip to Mexico at the end of the week, and this belt will go well with several solid color t-shirt dresses as well as shorts/jeans.

Give it a try! It was easy to do (I'm really not very crafty). The last picture of the belt is before I had trimmed all the loose threads.

Note: please ignore pasty/mayonnaise-colored legs in my pictures. UGH! I can't wait to get a bit of color.
