I got this top some years ago. It's unbelievably soft and comfy. On the other hand, the straps became very long and ugly. Moreover, one was even longer than another: the neckline dangled happily well below my bust. Disastrous.

As you can see, the bottom ruffle was exactly on my hips, making them even wider. Yuck.
What happened to the top? Was it doomed? Was it thrown into a litter bin? NO! The heroine was back, ready to save her clothing! She was armed with scissors:

...and after having cut the straps, the top was sewn back...

I had to make sure that the arm holes are big enough! If you want to do something similar, but you're afraid about the holes being too small, you can use a little bit of elastic. Nice, huh?
Moreover, my waist and the ruffle are compatible with each other now. The big, ugly neckline became a boat neck:
