I bet it will settle in about two weeks, and more often than not - hair grows back a lot faster than you think. I had a really bad haircut in March of 2012, went to a new hairstylist because I was lazy about making regular appts., and rushed in to get it cut when it was driving me crazy (always a mistake!). The stylist hacked all kinds of layers in the back of my head ..
A month later, it was much better, and by September it was all grown out (I'm talking layers in my hair that were cut were halfway up the back of my head). By September there were no more layers, it was all one length, well past my collarbone. My new stylist used a technique of trimming the bottom, and what was happening is that the layers were slowly growing out, meeting up with the ends which were being slowly trimmed shorter along the way (I went every six weeks).
Hang it there - it will get better and you might like it more in a couple of weeks.
