Different Outfit: Skirt and Boots

OK, this is the outfit I ended up wearing this morning. I thought it looked OK in the mirror (didn't have time for photos b4 leaving), but now I have serious doubts. Concerns: this pinstripe vest is too long with a skirt, crew-neck graphic tee not flattering, these boots not working? I bought these boots last year and never wear them, because they don't seem to work with anything. (Boots in general were perfect though for walking around the school lawn.) They have knit cuffs on top that can be worn folded down or up (shown up here). Opinions or suggestions?

I like everything except the denim skirt. I think it has too many horizontal lines, especially with your bare legs, the socks and the boots... I think if you wore the same outfit with black stockings underneath instead of the black socks it would eliminate some of the horizontal line issues. I really like the vest and T!

Why didn't you go with that cute houndstooth skirt? I loved that outfit! I agree with your assessment of the vest. Oh well, live and learn. My outfits are always really hit and miss for the first few weeks of fall (as well as spring) as I try to work through what works and what doesn't.

I think the vest works because it's low contrast. The boots work because the skirt is shorter. Wear them over straight legs as well. You look great!

To my eye, yesterdays boots with skirt outfit worked better, I think because the colours were lighter and the hem shorter and narrower, which gave a lower contrast with your skin and a more vertical column proportion? Strictly my own opinion, Kappy; it may just be my eye and my own team light colours bias :).

Very cute look! I really love the vest. I'd also like to see this same outfit with the skirt swapped out for a pair of skinnies, tucked into the boots.
