The Seventeen Book of Fashion and Beauty from 1967? I did but really did not remember until I read this article. And yes, I followed their advise. Some of my favorites.

  • "Meal at a friend’s house? Take a little of everything, but imagine you are a frail 19th century beauty and eat like a bird."
  • "Never underestimate the importance of your girdle."
  • "Are you nearsighted? If so, your glasses’ lenses are making your eyes look smaller." (I hated my glasses then)
  • "Stand with your back against a wall. If your posture is close to perfect, your head, shoulders, and buttocks will be touching the wall."
  • "Serious elegance is for the elderly; a strong element of fun enters into young chic."

I wonder what the next generation will think when they read the advise written now?
