I love shoes! (who doesn't). And my favorite style is definitely wedges - a perfect combo of chic and comfort. So I've been looking for a while and watching the prices of several pairs from Aldo, Steve Madden and Schutz. And today one of them dropped from $80 to $32, I couldn't believe it. And it's not the case when there is only one left in a huge size - still many sizes and 2 colors available. Also the quality is very decent - leather or suede upper and cork wedge. Please let me know if you have seen a better price for this type of shoes. I am collecting and documenting price record of various items, and this has to be the best in my collection yet. Even after shipping and tax it's under $35.

A cute shoe that I cannot wear. Maybe with the aging population more women are not buying such high sandals so they get discounted. Have you tried thrift stores? Shoes similar to these can be found for under $10.
I once had a beautiful pair, new with tags, that cost me $3 and looked amazing.

Really good pricing should be possible for many things if you stalk. I find the key for me is to not get upset if I lose out on the item. If I need/love it that much, then pay the higher price. But if I love it while still being able to live without it ( sounds stupid I know, clothes should not be THAT important), then just keep stalking and I will frequently be able to get it on sale. I have also learned that even if I thought the item was really important to me, I may not wear it as much as I think, because my wardrobe is large. So the days of thinking "I must pay full price for this expensive thing" are not really there for me much. Also the hankering may pass. Many of my favourite items have been bought half price. I don't always know they will be favourites until afterwards though, that's the thing.
So I think this may be only one of the many great deals of your future life. Have fun!

I'm not sure I understand the question , but this type of price reduction seems pretty common for the brands you mentioned ...especially for end of season merchandise. Sure, it's less than half price, but that could indicate that this style may have been a holdover from previous seasons and is ready to be dropped. That's my experience in wholesale and retail, anyways.

@lisa p: How important is the fact of something being from a previous season? I think only if you actually change your wardrobe every season. But if you are going to use something for 5+ years - no big deal.

wise shopper....I've actually been thinking more about this....I've found buying bargains at the end of a season can be a mixed bag....very very good if when you pull it out the next season you are still "feeling it", but very very bad if the next season you pull it out and it feels "off"...so generally good for basics, and for the 1st year of a new trend, but you need to be really careful as the fashion cycle winds down

The importance of that is different to everyone. Including different to the retailer/merchandiser than it is to the consumer. But that's not the point. That comment was in response to how/why these deep discounts are offered. If you like the shoes, go for it.

I’m like you in that i expect to keep things for years. I also have pretty strong likes & dislikes that may sway a bit with trends but don’t change very much, so I don’t have things like cold shoulder tops that were trendy once and date quickly. Others seem to pride themselves on wearing the latest trend. Not for me, yawn. I love shopping outlets like Nordstroms Rack. Nearly a third of the things I brought along on this move are from there, and several others were deeply discounted elsewhere; the long striped shirt at Soft Surroundings, the red shorts at Anthro, etc These are the Aldo shoes at the Rack rn. https://www.nordstromrack.com/brands/Aldo/Women

I own lots of things in my closet that were bought on deep discount because they were from a previous season. One of my favorite scores is a Rebecca Minkoff Julian Backpack that was bought because it was the wrong color for that season. It is STILL my favorite backpack. But KKards makes a very good point about buying at the end of the season.

Shopping takes time and can be challenging. When and if you find something that suits your lifestyle, fits your body, and meets your needs AT A DISCOUNT, then you have succeeded. YAY YOU.

I don't really have seasons where I live. I can use something like this all year round. That's probably why I don't feel changes in fashion so sudden :D.

I see a lot of the platform wedges on consignment too, like Joy said. The catch is that in my experience they're heavy on the foot, so they put a lot of strain on the upper straps. The pairs i did have wore out quickly where the straps are sole connected.

@suntinger: in my case the worst thing that happened was the wedge cracked. But still they lasted over 3 years.

Mine had elastic in between, at least the especially heavy ones. Ripped
