Did I just ruin my PPL?

I got these jeans yesterday from Boden and I loved them, but they were a tiny bit long. So, I confess, I tossed them in the dryer on the "jeans" setting (don't scold me). I had never tried it before but I was too excited to wait for a tailor to hem them a measly 1/2", and getting them to do the cute blue and red contrast stitching would have probably cost extra and taken more time. But I think they might have shrunk too much

Here are some pictures (my kitty wanted in on the action, just ignore her :p and someday I will remember to clean my mirrors, I promise)

I know the answer is going to be "yes they're too short" but I need to hear it otherwise I might end up going into denial mode.

I really don't think they are too short Maya. They look perfectly fine to me.

I think they look fine too. From the side it looks like the pants just skim the ground in the back. To me, they look perfect with those flats.

Maya -- from the side view they look like they just long enough and they look like they fit really well. I'm glad that you found a pair of jeans that you really like. The contrast stitching sounds fun (although it didn't show up in the photo).

I think you are fine. Definitely would not want to go shorter, but these are in the zone. If you want them a titch longer for peace of mind, isn't there a way to stretch jeans?

I was wondering if you wash them again and pull them straight as they airdry, if that might lengthen them a bit (or if the drier does permanent shrinking).

I think they are the right length with flats.

I think aj's idea will work. You don't need much more length back at all so wash them, hang them wet and pull each leg a bit. I always need more length and this has always given me just the tad bit more that I need.

Interesting idea. Seemed too simple to work. Do I have to keep doing it each time I wash it or is it a one time thing?

Maya, I think they are just long enough. Barely but there! Just don't put them in the dryer again, promise? They fit you *great*, and hey, this way your lovely flats are more visible

Maya, I'd say they are borderline, but I'd be surprised if you couldn't stretch them back out a tiny tad. I am 5'10 and have long legs and I have a lot of success with stretching out jeans when they are air-drying. Just grab each end of the leg and pull for all you're worth!

I'm glad you found jeans that fit you so well Maya, and I wouldn't despair, I agree with the other ladies: they are just long enough. And I would definitely try the stretching technique too.

I think they look fine but you can stretch them some after washing and hanging up wet by attaching a man's clip pant hanger to each leg and then attach something heavy to the hanger hook (I use a heavy man's wooden suit hanger). It works like a charm and stretches out wrinkles so you don't have to iron. If they have lycra, they may even stretch too much. I don't think you'll have to do it after every washing. I do this to keep from ironing and to get my petite pants to PPL. I'm 5'4" and between petite and regular lengths.

I always give mine a little tug after every wash. It takes no time at all and it does help with the wrinkles as the others were saying.

I agree that they are still fine, although you are right at the border. I would also try to stretch them as recommended.

I have had great luck with stretching while damp and line drying. It is a great trick!

Heavens above. By the skin of your YLF teeth! The steaming-while-wet-stretching process will lengthen them just enough. No more denim in the dryer my dear, Maya.
