I have a credit at a local consignment store for some clothes I dropped off. Today I went to one of their two locations (different from the one where I gave my clothes) and found a pair of incredible cream Chie Mihara boots for $19 in my size. They had a ruffle in the back and were soft as butter and fit my calf like a dream. I was just dazzled. The only problem? They had a 3.5" heel. They were incredibly comfy FOR having a 3.5" heel, but I was definitely not going to get a lot of wear out of them.

Well, I figured it's precisely this kind of impractical, frivolous purchase that should be made with a store credit. And if they ended up being total orphans, oh well. There was always ebay.

The other thing I almost bought was a purple cropped tie-waist Marc Jacobs top. It was $15 and would have been divine with shorts and skirts, but it was missing a button to keep it closed so I would have had to replace it. It was also a little big on me, although that could have possibly been solved by replacing the missing button.

When I went to check out, though, they told me that they could only take store credits at the other location. So I decided to just forego both things. My logic was that if I didn't have the credit, I wouldn't be there in the first place. I may as well just go to the other location and see what I find (it's markedly less high end than this one, I must say). Neither of the things I was going to get were perfect, which seemed fine with store credit but left me cold when it came time to pay with cash.

Still though, I'm very much haunted by those boots. Sure I might have worn them only 4 times a year, but that would still amount to only $5 per wear...

I'm almost ready to go back tomorrow and see if they're still there. Should I? Or do I just let it go?
