Did I blow it or was I right to leave it behind?

Yesterday the BF and I went looking for khakis for him for a work uniform. We had to go to the nearest city for shops and hit all 8 stores in the area. Funny thing, only 2 or 3 items out of all those stores called to me. Since I am already at budget, and also since it was supposed to be a trip for him, I did not try anything on. Should I have grabbed it or was it a good idea to leave it behind? My hesitation was that it was blue, rather than black, and white polka dots. Somehow navy reads more conservative and lady like to me - maybe that's my own crazy preconceived notion. Those of you that know my closet and style pretty well, do you think it was good to leave this be or should I have grabbed it? I can try to call the store or if that fails, order online with the extra shipping cost.

Navy can look fresher, crisper, softer and more youthful than black to my eye. So no more preconceived ideas about it being conservative

The style is perfect for you, but I think you were right to pass is up because of the color. This could explain why I love navy so much! I feel exactly the same as you (only flip flopped) about navy and black. They both have very different vibes. You should have no trouble finding a black and white polka dotted blouse, so I wouldn't worry about that. And I had NO idea that Men's Warehouse had women's clothing! That was a surprise!

It was at Burlington Coat Factory, actually, but I found it online under mens wearhouse. Funny, huh?
Wondering how to incorporate navy with my jewel tones and black/white/gray/denim based color scheme?
Oh, and now I have a quandary . . . to drive 1.5 hours roundtrip or to just pay the extra $$$ for shipping. Hmm.

Do you remember how it fit you?
I ask because I have a blouse in the same construction (different print). I've found it's a little hard to wear with pants, because it's slightly on the too-short side for me. And, though it drapes pretty well, it still ends up reading a little boxy (I'm an hourglass / pear). I still wear it as a layering piece, it's just not a 10 for me because of fit.

It is a very nice blouse, and navy goes well with white/gray/denim and jewel tons. I would get it.

I did not try anything on that day - it has panels that criss cross in front, in other words, the panels lay atop each other but are only connected at the neckline, so I imagine it would lay nicely. I just might have to give this one a go! (I have been blouse scouting, but very reserved on pulling the trigger. I want to be sure it's not a fantasy life purchase, you know?)

Mo, have I seen you in polka dots? Is this in line with your style? I've been trying to find ways to wear dots that aren't too sweet for me. It's certainly an adorable blouse!

I think it would be great with the grey pants from the interview capsule. In fact, it might work in the capsule quite nicely.

I voted yay. I am loving polka dots this year (last year too) and haven't found any great ones yet. I have polka dot envy.

I am still on the fence with this one, and only because of the navy. Silly, I'm sure, because I love the cut and I love the scale of the dots - but I am so hesitant, now that I've narrowed down colors that work together, to go too far outside the realm . . . sigh.

Oooh, I want one! I just gave a navy and white polka dot blouse to my sister (it was from Old Navy and I felt like it was too sheer to wear to work) but now I'm regretting it because I love that color combo of navy and white polka dots.

I think it would look great with white pants for summer. I could totally see you rocking this blouse! But if you don't think you'd wear it, pass. So you didn't have a chance to try it on?

Isn't navy a neutral? It's a pretty blouse. If it fills a wardrobe hole...BBQ!

I had the same questions as Una - and if you're still on the fence, give it a couple days... you might lose interest. And if you don't you'll have a better idea of your feelings for the color and style.
