Diaper Bags?

I have two young boys, 5 months and 2 years old. I am carrying diaper and wipes for both of them, plus extra clothes, burp clothes, toys & books, pacifiers, snacks, blankets, and a nursing cover. Plus my wallet, phone, and keys.
I have this diaper bag that I carry everywhere:

My problem is it doesn't go with all my clothes. What do other moms with babies do for diaper bags?

Ugh, yes, the dreaded diaper bag! At least you aren't hauling bottles, too.

I've just been toting a bag from Babies R Us, and it actially goes with none of my clothes! My daughter is almost finished with diapers, so I'm looking to downsize to a smaller bag just for snacks and a change of clothes for my daughter. I'll be watching this thread.

I have friends that use a regular big tote as a diaper bag. Don't know if you like that idea.

I have one bag in a mid brown which I am still using but am looking to replace now my baby is one (in the hope I need to carry less stuff now). It doesn't/didn't go with all my clothes.

Now I kind of wish I had bought two in different colours - of course then you'd have to keep them both stocked...or swap the contents all the time - I don't know if I would have had the patience before now.

I figure that a diaper bag doesn't really have to match your outfit, especially when you're running around with kids. I never worried about whether mine matched what I had on since it spent more time handing from the stroller than it did from my shoulder.

I hauled the Vuitton min lin in navy for my little ones and felt it coordinated with the main colors that I tend to wear I'm a pretty minimalist dresser though, so the bag was always the "statement" piece of my look. (I'm sure the statement was "frazzled mom," which probably isn't what you're going for.... =P)

Rebecca Minkoff has a cute black diaper bag which I think would also serve well as a tote once your kids are older.

I was just thinking this about my insulated lunch bag, LOL. Doesn't go at all. I have this whole thing now about a limited wardrobe palette, which has worked really well in terms of my handbags, but never thought to include my lunch bag in the "bags" category.

But I like the idea of having the baby's stuff match. So it's baby's clothing that must coordinate. Some how that feels easier to do to me.

rachylou- I like the idea of having my baby match instead of the bag. I carry him around more than the bag anyway. Maybe he will be my new accessory!
DressIpsaLoquit-I will look into both those bags. It's true that my diaper bag is on the stroller more than my shoulder. Maybe I will just have to give-up having a bag as a statement piece until my children are carrying their own stuff!
shipskitty-I found that once my toddler got older, I was carrying more stuff. He was no longer content to sit in his stroller, he wanted to be entertained with toys and books, etc.
Angie-The only problem I have with carrying a regular big tote is they are generally not washable and I end up ruining them.

I really, really, strongly advise against getting any bag that is not machine washable. I once got a fancy "official" diaper bag that had some kind of non-machine washable trim. Well, you can imagine what happened...one leaky bottle later, and I had one ruined expensive bag. Yuck.

Seriously - diaper bags are SO in the background - I just went for an all cloth army green messenger style diaper bag that my husband would carry, too. It is what it is - functional, practical and very machine washable.
