Both my ballet flats and pointed toe flats are not comfortable. I can make it through the day in the ballet flats, but the pointed ones hurt after less than hour.

Now, my accountant blood would never ever allow me to spend anywhere near that kind of money on shoes. Ever. So, I have been looking for alternatives. I like the gold heel, the almond toe, and the architectural details.

I have come up with these alternatives:

AGL's aren't cheap but extremely well made and comfortable

I remember seeing some JCrew shoes in ther spring lookbook with a low a gold heel. Not sure or comfort... trying (unsuccessfully) to find link.

Thistle: I like the second pair you linked to (and the inspiration pair too, of course).

I size up when buying pointed toe and add an ball of foot insert to keep my foot from sliding forward in the shoe. This makes a big different.

Those Pradas are amazing but I do know what you mean about the price.

I understand what you are saying about the Prada shoes but I think generally expensive shoes are worth the cost.

If they are all leather & can be repaired & are a classic style (for the person wearing them) then they could just work out cheaper than the many pairs of not good enough, uncomfortable shoes that a lot of us buy:) Just a thought.

I like the Walking Cradles better, because they have the buckle. Actually, court shoes like this turn up often enough at places like DSW.

I like both of your alternatives, but I don't know Walking cradles personally. I do know Ara shoes though and they're usually very comfortable.

Eh... I guess they're what I call basic pumps and low, block-heeled shoes like these. I google on "court shoes" instead of "pumps" because the latter seems to bring up more, well, hoochie shoes (which I can't say I'm interested in).

I like your witty header, and then I saw the shoe... Regardin the 'real world' shoe, I bought Ara shoes frequently whilst in Germany, and they are super comfortable. I still wear a basic black pump with a 2 inch heel, and my feet are happy all day.

I love the idea of a metallic heel... There are some AGLs like that - next to the Pradas they seem like a bargain!

Sometimes Nordstrom's is a curse as much as a blessing I know Prada is not sold at any mall in my state. Maybe at a swanky boutique, but not anywhere mainstream. *sigh*

I need to check out those AGLs.

I've no good brand suggestions but just my sympathy. I understand the goal of "quality" but some price points don't seem to have the right return! Or at least, not if it's one of several pairs of shoes and boots in rotation. I haven't been able to identify one shoe I'd wear all day, every day due to different pants, skirts and outfit proportions.

It does sound like it's worth it for you to browse some other brands and see if you can find one or 2 that really fit your feet and then maybe target them in the future. I prefer to try on shoes in person, but without a salesperson, so I can quickly say yay or nay, but that gives limited options compared to the world of on-line.

It would be nice to try in person, but honestly, there are no great places by me. Macy's is the best store in my state, and they carry very few shoes I am interested in. They all seem to have such high heels!

I perused Zappos, but nothing grabbed me. But then, what did I expect Devil picked Prada for a reason!

Chuckling at your title! I've had good luck with AGL flats, but haven't tried the ones with heels yet. Cade mentioned Ara shoes and I have a pair of low heeled oxfords from them. Super comfortable.
